The PAW Group and a terrible end of a great friendship

There was once a group, meeting daily on MSN Messenger and having fun about PAW and some other topics. The group included some of the nicest persons here around and all had one thing in common: They loved tennis and a special game on this board, called PAW.

This game (which might sound strange to you now) was the fundament and beginning of a great friendship. We didnt just meet daily to exchange our PAW's and to cheer in livescore-chats, we also got to know each other very well and started a friendship. The group included the PAW father SpikeyAidanm, British guy Andrew_UK, Brasilian No. 1 Hantuchov, the arguable most funny person ever Azza, Slovenian "lady of consistency" Jrm, Israeli Nir, Bulgarian Ghosts and me, German Crazillo or later GER/CAN Sascha and some occasinal visitors.

Everything seemed to be perfect. The funniest thing was that despite of the fact that we lived on several continents still managed to meet daily in this one chat. Now somebody should say it is just a game, well this was the example to show this impression of PAW is wrong.

To show this, some crazy ideas went through the mind of the PAW players. A PAW magazine, a PAW meeting on Sylvester, a PAW house, PAW here and PAW there. Some of these crazy ideas were even tried out succesfully, what the great reaction of the first PAW magazine showed to everybody. The probably most fanatic of us, Andrew-UK said he would built this house if he ever wins in the lottery.

As the time progressed, some new members were introduced to our "family"... PointBlank joined, Bionic71, Andrew_Uk brought Raquel, SpikeyAidanm brought Lady etc...
All the fun we had through this one thing in common, PAW, and some other stuff which made us really close and gave us connections between each other. We had the impression we are the best melting pot of nations in the whole world -- through a "small" online game which was supposed to get a website now and had a growing number of members daily.

Besides the great group chats, some of the members started to chat in private dialouges to each other and we saw that there is a lot more than PAW which connected us. It was the main reason why we met, otherwise nobody of us would have got so many great friends and those private chats were a nice consequence of this game or "game+++++."

The first setback was when Crazillo (back there) won the RG title. People offended him of cheating and many people in the group started to worry about his honesty. After a very strong discussion everybody agreed the "new" GER/CAN Sascha did NOT cheat. It was a first thing though that created a probem in the group, something which was never there before.

Although we now met not just for PAW it was still a big factor to meet. Unfortunately for the group, some of the upcoming tournaments had bad or even no scoreboards. People met less and less after Wimbledon, where all were united again and somehow, people's ways were seperated now. There was the problem. You could not go to anybody's door and knock to say "Where are you mate", everybody was simply busy now with other stuff. The tournament live-score problem made the problem not smaller. GER/CAN Sascha flew to Montreal, Jrm had big problems with her computer and was hardly ever on, SpikeyAidanm was damn-busy with school and a bit burned-out and Andrew_UK got a new job and had no time at all to come online again. People met occasionally here and there, but somehow everything ended apprutabebly.

Nowadays, the only remaining people here are GER/CAN Sascha and Hantuchov, who meet nearly daily. It is not easy though, with Hantuchov studying and GER/CAN sascha being in the final years of his school-life, Jrm is hardly ever online, having had setbacks with her PC and her health, Andrew-UK seems to be disappeared completely and seems tob be busy with other stuff while SpikeAidanm never shows up. Azza is here at times, but a real contact is not there either. Nir is very busy with the hard school in Israel. Ghosts studies now in another country and is online as well, but the chats with him become less and less, too. Very rarely Raquel and Jrm are there, but it is never as it was back in the best, golden days of the group.

A great modell of a melting pot of nations... and its sad ending is one of the faboulos and tragic stories at the same time this great game or great "game+++++" offers to all players. It's PAW, a bigger or smaller part of our life which is responsible for more than you might think.

I'm so sorry guys, I promise I will chat with you all very very soon. I have spoken to Luis about twice and Aidan just twice in the last 6 weeks. Saschas, I'm hardly on MSN at the moment, we keep missing eachother, I promise I will come on more when I can, I received your PM today and it made me feel really sad.

Just so you all know, I wrote this in the Olympic forum about DAP, for some reason I just lost it. I went bananas, DAP was very stressful and I was getting to the point where I spent my entire day with the Sega on. I wasn't eating properly, or treating my family and friends well because I had no time for them. Those of you who remember Aidy's tough time during the French Open was similar to what happened to me. And what wonderful advice Saschas gave to him, look how Aidys bounced back. I promise you all it will be completed for sure. I have a temporary job at the moment, and will hardly get to come online but I will make much more of an effort to. Now that I am not a student, means that I rarely have much free time now

These are some updates from people who I have managed to talk while on MSN:

- Aidan and I spoke about a week ago, and he is completely busy with end of year exams that will determine his chances of getting into university, so you must all appreciate how serious his exams are and that he must not come here often.

- Raquel and I spoke once a while ago, and she is now working more.

I promise you all I will chat with you, you are all very special friends and I miss you all loads

I also remembered that the PAW Fed Cup is soon, so we must sort out the committments for the play-offs, and I would also be happy to arrange some friendly matches between countries that didn't have 2 players before.

My final message is important:

The only time I have come here is to make PAWs, I hope you don't perceive that as being selfish, but as I said I hardly have time for the internet at the moment, and what's worse is I have put my race rank in jeopardy. Aidan is also hanging in at the top 16, while Luis has probably already got his plane tickets to LA ;)

So now I want to make a plea:

"Let's rebuild our group by fighting hard to be in the end of year championships. Remember, this has been our dream for many months. Let's also try and come on MSN more when we can (for those like me who have little time). The arguments, mood swings and petty squabbles of the past (;)) must now be all forgotten. Life is too short and precious to be in conflict with those who we love. Our group is indestructible, and nothing or nobody will be able to destroy it". God I feel like Martin Luther King lol, I got on a roll there ;) But I mean every word of it.

andrew_uk will be back ;) :wavey: I love you all dearly

Hey guys!

Yes I have been busy as hell, and I've done 1 exam today and got 4 more to go!

Sascha - I am still your friend and I believe totally in you as an honest, genuine person :) Looking forward to talk in the future...

Luis - We have had some fights in the past, but I hope all is resolved between us. I definately admire you as a PAW Champion and as an even better person. :)

ghosts - Good luck in Germany mate, you are one of the nicest guy to talk to and you make me feel really good every time we have a chat :)

Andys - We are still close, and will be forever. Yes as you have noticed me & Andys only come online to PAW and secure a spot at the championships, but that just shows how busy our lives are :)

raquel - I have so much respect for you l and the message you sent via rep was very touching indeed

Shorty - I'm still your mate i hope and I reckon you're a great supporter of the game.

masha - Love talking to you and missing it

And to sandg - I can't help but admire your absoulete and dedicated efforts to PAW. You are like an unbreakable machine, please take that as a compliment :)

And to PAW - It may seem I have been losing interest in the game in general by not running tournaments or doing "Player of the Month" features, but the truth is I must adjust my days according to the direction of my life. So much for Wojtek's comment that "PAW is Spikey's life"

I will be doing a thread on the year awards soon ....

Love ya PAWers,
Aidan

I love you guys :)

:wavey: everyone! Glad you are all fine :) I was not in as many of the group chats but I was in quite a few ;) and it would be fun to do it again soon. I am still hoping to make the Championships. I think I am 21st just behind Sascha and jrm so I need a good Luxembourg and maybe a Philadelphia win (yeah right!) to sneak in. I managed top 10's in Hasselt and Beijing but not much since, so maybe we will all be on at the same time for Fed Cup instead :)

I am going to make sure I come on msn more often too, Like Andy said I have actually ended up working more often than I used too which came as a bit of a surprise to me but its going well for the time being and I don't post as often as I did anymore - just my PAWs and a few posts in the chat threads and GM - but who knows, I might make LA yet!

Andy, glad you got a job and maybe a break away was the best thing for you so that you can enjoy posting here again :)

Aidan I am glad you got my rep :) I meant it all of course and good luck with absolutely everything!!

Sascha, that was a really nice top post and I am sure we will all talk again at the same time soon

Hey Luis! I hear from you around the board more often than anyone. I will rep you again when our Dani wins Linz OK?
