View Full Version : L.A. Predictions?

Someone started this thread on the Sveta forum... I thought it would make sense to have one here as well.

How far do you think Miss D will get in the YEC?

Lena vs Davenport (Davenport)
Lena vs Momo (Momo)
Lena vs Sveta (Could go either way, but I think Sveta unfortunately, unless she has an off day)
Lena vs Myskina (Lena)

And theoretical:

Lena vs Sharapova (Lena)
Lena vs S. Williams (Serena)
Lena vs V. Williams (Lena)
Lena vs Henin (Henin)

So depending on her draw, she could make the semis. Your thoughts? Try not to be biased. On a good day, she can beat almost anyone here (let's hope she'll have good days!), the x-factor is her form (is that leg ok?) and that of her opponents. Lindsay and Momo might still be recovering. Myskina is quite consistent though... I anticipate all her matches will be tough matches. Unless Bovina makes the cut.

Honestly, I think Lena will make the semifinals or the finals if she has a decent draw.

To me, the biggest threats would be Davenport, Myskina or S. Williams.

I still don't know how the relatively slender Myskina is able to own Lena. Honestly, you'd think Lena could dispatch her with a flick of the wrist.

Still, I think this year you can make a strong case for Lena being one of the top two or three in the world.

Ability to hold nerves, and a better serve perhaps went a long way in those two finals...

Since Justine Henin-Hardenne won't be playing L.A., that leaves 4 spots still open. :bounce:

Sharapova will get in :clap2: , and I think at least one Williams sister will play (Serena may not if her knee is still acting up  ).

Capriati is a question mark  , so maybe include Vera Zvonareva in the mix :D .

As long as Elena isn't in the same pool as Lindsay Davenport :worship: , she'll have a good chance at advancing.

Mauresmo will still be tough as long as her back allows her to play  .

Nadia Petrova at No. 12 in the standings could still get in  . Karolina Sprem may also have a shot to get in thanks to all the injuries :yippee: .

Stay tuned!

i suppose the Porsche standings in yec :

1 Linz
2 Mo
3 Myskina
4 Kuznetsova
5 LenaD :yeah:
6 Masha
7-8 Serena, Venus, Bepa, Jenny

now i just hope bepa qualify and play in lena's group:
2 Mo
4 Kuznetosva
5 LenaD
? Bepa

so the other group is:
1 Linz
3 Mysknna
6 Masha
? Serena,Venus,Jen

so if she get this perfect draw she'll have a gr8 chance to SF

& since Myskina has nearly no chance in her group , lena can get Rus no.1 :D :p

what she need is No1 of WTA,not only in Rus

this yr i think can't  lena is nearly 1000 pts down Lindz

and Linz isn't defending any more pts

so even lena win Zurich & YEC :worship:, she can't pass Linz i think

I doubt Elena's chances at winning, but I'll pick her to make the semis, even though there are a few kinda bogey players for her

P.S what is bepa?

Elena couldn't have drawn a tougher group in L.A., being placed in the "Red Group" with Lindsay Davenport, Serena Williams and Anastasia Myskina. The "Black Group" has Amelie Mauresmo, Maria Sharapova, Vera Zvonareva and Svetlana Kuznetsova.

I guess it could have been worse if Mauresmo were in Elena's group too.

Play begins on Wednesday night.

The tournament website (www.wtachamps.com) has a link to live scoring, but other than that, it's a pretty worthless site for a Tour championship site.

Hmm.. if she had won a few more finals, she would have surpassed Sveta in the Race, and got the black group instead.

Vera Zvonareva...
vera in russian = bepa:lol::lol::lol: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :eek::lol:
sorry mates, you were confused by somebody...
in Russian, Vera's name is "Вера" - written by Cyrillic letters - not those "bepa" or "Bepa" written by Latin letters.
Yes, in this case Cyrillic letters are graphically similar to Latin ones, but they are not equal by meaning or any encoding.
You can distinguish for example, if you look with a font distinguishing those (I tried to do so here, with "Trebuchet MS" font), or in hex mode...
In any case, it's a name so first letter is capital "В", no correspondence to that lowercase "b"...

Can someone tell me what Udachi means? Is it russian?Well, mate,
in Russian, "Удачи!" - transliterated by "Udachi" and spelled like oo-DAH-chee - means similar to "Good luck!" :)

Ahh I see... What about "Vamos"?

By the way, I'm not a 'mate'. You've been listening to Lleyton Hewitt too much. He's a true blue, but not my idol.

What about "Vamos"?It has nothing to do with Russian, being a Spanish word alike "Go", "Come on" - or "Allez" in French - afaik...
