I think probably the usual- Drake and Pelletier, but I think they should give someone else a willdcard instead of Drake(I definitely think Pelletier should get one)- maybe Aleksandra Wozniak or.... Nancy :hearts:

Who is Nancy? Don't dreams

Euh! Pelletier will get one it's SURE! Dubois gets the Alberquerque...
So it's between Mélanie and Maureen!

I really don't know maybe one oh them will get WC in qualies...
But I think MÉLANIE will get the last WC becaus it's her home tournament ;)

Aleksandra Wozniak should definitely get a wildcard into the main draw, and hey, why not Erica Biro? She had a strong season also.

lololol...Erica isn't even close to getting a main draw Wc here!

Biro doesn't deserve a WC, i can think of 10 people who should get it over her. Main draw will be marios, pelletier and dubois. But it should be mo, alex, tania or val that should get the wc over mel. Mel has done nothing this year.

I think Erica Biro does deserve a WC-for qualifying. She is in the top 10 in Canada and she's improved her ranking this year-plus she's from Quebec. On top of that, she hasn't relied on WC's to get into any tournaments in Canada so they should give her a chance.

Why don't they let all the canadian's who can get into qualifying (Drake, Pelletier, Marois) get there without wildcards, give different Canadian players wildcards into the main draw (Wozniak, Tetreault, and Dubois who gets one anyways) and give other lesser known players like the juniors the wildcards to the quallies?

Too bad no WC for Mo, but she didn't get one last year either so not much of a shock - Hopefully she will play in the qualifying and get some extra points :) She's been a pretty consistent match winner here the last few years, so it would be nice to see her try and continue that. Hopefully Steph, Marie-Eve and Melanie will have a nice showing here :)

hopefully Pelletier and Marois. They could do some things on the Pro Tour.

Wasnt there a prodigy called Sharon from Canada? She old enough to compete yet?:).
MD will probably go to Maureen and Marie-Eve again, unless they get another GE coming here.

WC are for Marois and Pelletier :)

Canada have a "prodige" named Sharon but she have better chances for WC in others provinces...............

I think Sharon can't play because she's still 13 years old. It's too bad cause she could probably beat mel...

Sharon will prolly get a quali WC next year. She is sadly still too young. I hate that mel gets this wc. She can't play for shit, and i know its her home club, but they should base it on merit. And losing first rounds in 10k's doesn't give you much credit. Mara and steff totally deserve this. Mara has been playing well in the ITf circuit again which is nice, and steff has some good results also. but mel

Is Drake playing this tournament because she isn't even on the qualifying list?

by the looks of it, Maureen is likely going to play Philadelphia. She's on the qualifying list there, and it isn't marked as an alternative choice for her.

That might change in a few years when sharon will be top 100 in the world and mel will still be losing 10k first rounds. As ignorant as home town fans can be, they are still tennis fans in general wanting to see good tennis. I can only watch mel get killed so many years after years before it becomes redundant. I totally understand that its her home club and all, and that she will get a wc there till she dies. But she flat out doesn't deserve it.

Maureen wasn't playing qualifying in Quebec City for many years now, so she was never taking up a qualy WC from any young player. Marois may be the home crowd favourite, but there is no question that Maureen would have deserved the wildcard more based on everything else. She has won a main draw match in Quebec City the last 2 years (something even Pelletier has yet to achieve so far), and she is still top 200 in the world rankings, qualified for a grand slam, and also reached some 50k challenger finals. I would have had no problem with Dubois being chosen for a wildcard because she has shown that she can play against players around main draw level this season. Marois on the other hand has shown nothing close to that for most of the year, and I think she hardly needs the 'Quebec City maindraw experience' any more than Maureen does considering she's been losing first round for the past 4 years and quite possibly a 5th year straight now. :p

Granted, Mo is in Philly and has a pretty generous first couple of rounds in the qualifying, but she lucked out with that draw. Do you have any idea what the qualy draw here is going to look like? It's journeywoman and bagel girls up the ass. Maureen needs wins and specifically POINTS to get her ranking up...she's got about nothing to defend the first 6 months of the year, so IMO a return to just inside the top 100 isn't all that improbable if she can get her ass in gear. Why wouldn't you take the easy wins to get your ranking up if you can do it? She would easily qualify and could probably win a round here (maybe two) considering Jill Craybas is the #3 seed:o

I found it quite surprising myself, I would have thought she'd go with Quebec City considering she's done quite well there the past 2 years beating seeds in the main draw...Though with the quality of the field here, that doesn't say *that* much as you said lol. My guess is that she is saving time and money by playing Philly. Pittsburgh is the following week and she should be there, so it seems economical to stay nearby especially considering that that Philadelphia qualifying is still quite weak. I am not too sure what to expect of her against Castano, but I guess we will see which Mo shows up - If she is playing decent then there really should be no reason why she can't beat Castano indoors.

First.....

Shaun, Mel actually performed great in all her other main draw apperances in Quebec city, excpet from, last year where she got killed by zheng. And i think that is the actual reason of her slump irhgt now. She actually was 2 games away from beatnig marlene W, who then went 2 months later in AO and beat JCap, she did a 6-4 7-5 to Iva Majoli who was the finalist that year and same scrore to Erika de Lone, a tricky experienced player.....Though i completely agree that she doen't deserve the WC, i think it is normal for her to have it.......

Second, one sentence. No Maureen here :D ;)
