David Lynch... by far! And I like Kevin Smith too.
And as for "blockbuster" directors I like Robert Zemeckis cause I'm obsessed with the Back to the Future trilogy... And although I've tried so hard to fight against it... I really liked Forrest Gump  I'm actually doing an auteur director research project at the moment so I've had to see a lot of movies by certain directors to see if I can identify any kind of signature running through their work. It's been interesting. I'm concentrating mostly on Mel Gibson though cause there hasn't been much work done on him as a director and although he's only directed 3 movies I think he's going to be (and maybe is at the moment) one of the most-watched and anticipated directors in the world... I dislike all his movies though... but he's sooooo intriguing... he's full of paradoxes

Ohhh...here, I looove directors. If there´s a new movie out, I always try to go to the cinema as soon as possible.
These are mine:
Robert Zemeckis: Forrest Gump, Contact, Death becomes her, Cast Away, Back to the future, Who framed Roger Rabbit?, What Lies Beneath
Tim Burton: Sleepy Hollow, Big Fish, Edward scissorhands, Beetle Juice
I have a thing going on with weird movies.

My favorites...
Pedro Almodovar - All About My Mother, Bad Education, Talk to Her, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Matador, High Heels, Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
he's made soo many great movies! I love his dark humor, his strong female characters and bright colors. His newer work is more mature, but still very good. He's an excellent writer and director. I couldn't pick a favorite, I love them all.
Lukas Moodysson - Fucking Amal, Together, Lilya 4-Ever, A Hole in My Heart
Todd Solondz - Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness, Storytelling, Palindromes
Lars von Trier - Dogville, Dancer in the Dark, Breaking the Waves, The Idiots
Francois Ozon - Swimming Pool, Under the Sand, 8 Women, Sitcom, 5x2, Water Drops on Burning Rocks
Alexander Payne - Election, About Schmidt, Citizen Ruth
Atom Egoyan - Exotica, Ararat, The Sweet Hereafter, The Adjuster
Julio Medem - Sex and Lucia, Lovers of the Arctic Circle, Red Squirrel, Vacas, Tierra
I could go on.....
