Lindsay has a crap draw. Bovina in the 2r, Serena in the QF.
If she makes the SF, that should be a pretty comfortable match. Either Venus or Hype.
Bovina is seriously concerning. Lindsay should be able to handle Serena if Lindsay is healthy, but the flu is also worrying me now.
BTW, I'm not even sure she's going to show up...

ooh lindsay  I'm sure she'l do what ever she thinks best, if she doesnt show up then shes not recovered, if she does then great :D
Oct 16th, 2004, 09:12 PM
go lindsay either way.....i actually think serena will be a tougher match than bovina.
Oct 16th, 2004, 11:22 PM
please dont withdraw lindsay! with serena out you will surely win! who is bovina?!

Mauresmo's playing the tournament - so the no 1 position is definitely up for grabs again. At this moment she has a lead of just under 200 points which means she'd have to get to the SF to guarantee the no 1 position for another week (since Mauresmo might sneak in to play Linz now)
Also Lindsay's scheduled to play doubles again - she may very well withdraw from the doubles to concentrate on the singles.

Just read that Lindsay has withdrawn from zurich, which is annoying but then probably the best thing so she can recover for LA.
When is the Championships in LA?
Oct 17th, 2004, 11:04 AM
I think Novemeber, but I'm not 100%. I'm sure Lindsay will be well by then if these are her last champs.
Oct 17th, 2004, 12:15 PM
It starts in 25 days (which is just under a month away).
What she might do is place Advanta instead - to give her a week's practice before WTA Champs - also it wouldn't be so bad if she's ranked 2nd going into the WTA Champs because either way she'll add points - Mauresmo will have to defend over 700 points between Advanta and WTA Champs - even if she wins Zurich and regains the no 1 position, she'd still have to progress further than Lindsay (especially if Lindsay plays Advanta too) to secure that no 1 position.
At least Lindsay's thinking with her brain - she's seen players falter on the tour this season, by playing when they're not 100% and therefore having to end their seasons early because of it.

gutted! i cant bellieve linds is injured/ill again! she never has the luck eh! i really wanted to see her finish her FANTASTIC season wilth 10titles and the YEC! shes had an incredible year.........lets hope shes gets well soon, and finishes world no.1 at end of season!
By the way does anyone know what is wrong with linds.....cold? flu??
Oct 17th, 2004, 01:23 PM
To our knowledge it's the flu.
Oct 17th, 2004, 01:25 PM
Get well soon, Lindsay:)
Oct 17th, 2004, 02:30 PM
At least it's not an injury :D.
Get well soon Lindsay, drink lots of fluids :).
Oct 17th, 2004, 03:01 PM
She was suffering in the semis in Moscow with the cold/flu. I think she did well to play Myskina as close as she did. Hope she will consider playing Advanta now. Expect Mauresmo will be No 1 next week but Linds shou:)ld gain it back not having points do defend now.
Get well soon Linds
Oct 17th, 2004, 04:40 PM
Gosh!!!!! ill/injured again!!!! Poor Lindsay!! It's very annoying because she really likes playing at Zurich, and she should have played better at Zurich than Moscow. I hope she'll get well soon. If she doesn't play at Zurich, will she loose the n°1 slot?
Oct 17th, 2004, 05:36 PM
Not shocking. I'm not that upset at all. This is really for the best. I do hope she palys Phili though. It would kind of put year end #1 in the bag.
Oct 17th, 2004, 06:56 PM
she looked awful when she played yesterday and that reflected in her performance. Get well soon lindsay x
Oct 17th, 2004, 07:33 PM
Play Phili so I can go see you. ;)
Oct 17th, 2004, 07:41 PM
why you banned?!
Oct 17th, 2004, 08:00 PM
oh lindsay :crying2: get better real soon :)
Oct 18th, 2004, 08:21 PM
It's not lindsayfan who goes to Zurich and who hoped to meet her ?
Oct 19th, 2004, 09:26 AM
Amelie has withdrawn from Zurich, so Lindsay's number one spot remains safe and Zurich's draw gets even more boring.
Oct 19th, 2004, 09:34 AM
hi, I can't beleive I've been out of the loop - I didn't know Lindsay had withdrawn! I didn't get chance to go on the internet yesturday because I worked for 14 hours straight - boy was I ill by the time I got home.......never again! To top it off, I didn't finish work until late!
Well, it's for the best - Lindsay did look really ill last week. I'm not sure it was the flu though.....in the UK we refer to the flu as the illness that keeps you bed-ridden for a few days because your muscles/bones ache so much, plus chesty cough, difficulties breathing etc. I would say Lindsay had a bog-standard cold, cough, runny nose - perhaps head ache a bit of lathargy but definately not bed-ridden. Maybe the ones of you that live in the USA refer to any cold as 'flu'?
Hope to see Lindsay in Phili......I think she will deside to play the USA event in the run-up to The champs. If I remember rightly, wasn't phili the event she won in 1999 just before she won the, [then called] Chase Champs beating Martina Hingis in both finals? I think it's always been a great warm-up event for Lindsay......Lindsay is the type of player that plays well when she's on a winning streak!
Go Lindsay! :bounce:
Oct 19th, 2004, 09:37 AM
Yeah, Lindsay herself called it a cold when she withdrew from Zurich.
Umm, I just said Mauresmo has withdraw from Zurich, because I saw a link that wouldn't work on the main wta tour page, but there's nothing else about it, so maybe it's wrong!
Oct 19th, 2004, 09:59 AM
Mauresmo is out, it's confirmed. Get well soon, Lindsay!
Oct 19th, 2004, 01:05 PM
Yeah she's out and at this moment if she decides to play Linz she wouldn't gain as many points as if she was playing at Zurich because it's a different tier event - which means Lindsay's got that no 1 position held for at least 2 weeks and possibly now till Advanta and subsequently the WTA Champs
