Oxygen has greenlit production on "Finding Fabio," a reality competition aimed at finding the next Harlequin romance novel cover model.

Project, from the Greif Co. and Jude Weng ("Trading Spaces"), premieres in March.

"Fabio" will follow 12 guys as they undergo "romance boot camp" and prepare for competition in a "Mr. Romance" pageant. Winner will receive $50,000 and grace the covers of several Harlequin titles.

Oxygen programming prexy Debby Beece said the women's cabler quickly snapped up the show, calling it "a funny take on a fairy-tale land."

"We want to paint a portrait of the quirky world of male modeling competitions -- chronicling these men, not mocking them -- giving women a glimpse into the absurd and the serious side of what it takes to get on the cover of a Harlequin romance novel."

News of the project comes on the heels of Bravo's similar male model skein, "Manhunt," which premiered last night.

Oxygen is currently casting "Fabio" around the country. Romance novel cover girl Cindy Guyer will host the show.
