ooh...it takes one to know one! :p

Yes, Duran Duran are essential, the earlier the better. And Arcadia, for that matter.

If we're going all-out '80s pop you can't forget Thompson Twins, Bananarama and the Pet Shop boys.

T'Pau for power ballads!

the bangles -eternal flame/walk like an egyptian
nena - 99 luftballons
Did you mean Nena's German version with that name, or her English 99 Red Balloons? (Still great after with lyrics like "Everyone's a Captain Kirk, Everyone's a super-hero" and that sensuous  "...and let it go" @ the end). :yeah: (A peace song that I'm sure JustineTime "CC" - Considers Communist). :p

Re. the Bangles, Manic Monday is "simple, but super sweet". (Though Bob Geldoff (and his Boomtown Rats') ode to a massacre  I don't like Mondays is catchier, IMO).

Bob :worship: (most famous for LiveAid, of course) also did our "Philly theme song" with that great chorus "... you and I are here to stay, in the town that rocked a nation, Phil-a-del-phi-a P-A".

Another addition: Vacation by the Gogo's
