Somebody has applied for a credit card in my name... using my old address as um... "my" address. And they managed to get the card (least I know I have good enough credit to get another card if I want one! :) ) and make a transaction with it on October 4th. But they applied for it with my bank who I have a credit card with and they noticed something was up and contacted me yesterday... but they didn't do a very good job of explaining what they were on about to me cause of course they were being very cryptic with what they were saying incase it was me who applied and I was trying to be fraudulant... or whatever the word is. But... I obviously have no idea who has done it... or how they did it. So I have to call some number tomorrow and start to get it all sorted out. I'm not worried though... It wasn't me! So I'm not liable to pay anything... am I? Cause I haven't done anything or given my details out anywhere that could allow this to happen.

The only thing I can think of is that some mail was delivered to my old address and the people who live there now are total arses and thought they could get away with being me.

Me as well...

Either way thats unfortunate but I agree, you hopefully wont have to pay anything for any charges, just make sure to periodically check your credit reports for any mysterious new acct openings.... Good luck with that!

somebody stole my identity... hence I'm in an identity crisis!

Anyway, they have got 2 cards in my name somehow. And I think it's the people who live at my old address... They'll get whats coming to them no doubt.

I think it's like a $50 max. I mean you can't be held responsible for any more than $50 on each card. But I can't see how you'd even be held responsible for that at all. It wasn't your card in the first place. I think the $50 thing is if you have it/lose it, etc.

Nobody hates me! I'm too wonderful! :)

Well, the fraud people won't tell me too much but they say it's all in hand and I don't need to worry about anything. My credit card has been cancelled... just incase and they are sending me a new one.
