Follow the link http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6158694/ and scroll down to the heading 'Tax Cut Fight'.

Kerry offers...."a new choice" on jobs, health care, taxes and energy, saying he would roll back Bush's tax cut for Americans earning more than $200,000 a year to pay for his proposals.
Kerry would eliminate tax breaks that reward U.S. companies for sending jobs abroad, cut corporate taxes by 5 per cent, offer a new tax credit to jump-start the creation of manufacturing jobs, enforce trade laws and raise the minimum wage from $5.15 per hour to $7 by 2007.The question, of course is, will rescinding that much of the tax cut actually pay for all that?

But as you listen to all of this rhetoric from Kerry AND Bush, look around you.

In my town, more and more middle class and upper-class guys are laid off. 'Diversity' career fairs are suddenly seeing more and more middle-aged white ex-managers in attendance, as they are laid off.

And once your unemployment benefits run out, you're no longer counted as 'unemployed'. The best guess at unemployment is that it's TWICE the figure the government gives. And an engineer who made 120,000 a year who now make $5.15 an hour at McDonald's is counted as 'employed'. Say what you want about 'the economy'. Bush as been hell itself for the American wage-earner.

The questions are, will Kerry bw any better? And does Bush have anything to offer but tax cuts that favor the wealthy. I got my $600 in tax cuts from Bush. ANd between lost services and higher local taxes, his tax cut cost me about $1500.

Do the math for your town.

Some people are affraid if you raise the price of minimum wage that much it will cause the cost of living to go up. But if you pay attention, the cost of living has risen significantly every year. While the cost that employers pay to minimum wage has stayed the same. I think raising it will be a good thing. Overall I think Kerry's proposal will work out, even if it was to fail, anything is an improvement over the current situation.

I finally managed to find myself a Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker and lawn sign. :worship:
