Hello fellow Lindsay fans. This is a place to discuss whatever we want, could be about Lindsay or about our everyday lives, or whatever. I thought this would be fun, and hopefully we can keep it up for a while. :)

I'll start. As most of you know, I'm Andrew and I've been posting on this board for more than a year now, and have been a big fan of Lindsay from about 1997. I live in the US, like Rock/Popular music, and also like television and movies.

This is a nice thread.

My name is, of course, Jacs. I live in the Philippines. I work as an assistant editor for a magazine.

I've been posting on this particular board since 2001. But I started out in the old Sanex board in 1999.

I've been a fan of Lindsay since RG 1998. I started the TOP back in 2000 with old Sanex Board members.

I have three blogs - http://spitefulspit.blogspot.com (about general stuff), http://2manymovies.blogspot.com (for movie reviews) and http://studio.dalsol.org (about Philippine TV, which I just started with a couple of friends).

Hi everybody!!!! My name is Frédéric an I'm from France!!!! Yes, there are some Lindsay's fan in France!!!! I'm 18 and I'm studying in order to be a nurse. I love playing tennis, listening to music, going to shool, meeting my friends, and watching Lindsay's matches of course!!!! I started to be a Lindsay's fan since 1998, but until august 2003, I didn't have eurosport, so I couldn't watch her very often. Now, I can watch her matches!!!! I saw her at Roland Garros 2003 when she played in double with Lisa (I posted some pics). And I hope she will play Roland Garros 2005!!!! Maybe she can will there....

OMG Kelly :haha: :haha: I spit my drink out when I read that.

That's too bad that you don't get the weekends off. That's pretty much what keeps me sane. :p

I'm feeling much better thank you. I tore my rotator cuff last May and I couldn't play tennis really until very recently. I went to the park today and hit big ground strokes and serves and scared people. That always makes me feel better.

That's great. I usually end up going out and staying on Nantucket, but when I've stayed on the Cape I've stayed at Ocean Edge, which was very nice. I wasn't able to go out there this year though, because I spent time out on the West Coast.

Yeah, the only time I stayed in Nantucket was in 2000. We stayed in the Nantucket Inn, I think. It's pretty nice but we left early because my mom was tired from biking 20 miles http://wtaworld.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif.

Never been on the West Coast... my dad hates flying unfortunately so we never get to see the good stuff.

Hi I am Jan and have been a Lindsay fan for years. I am from the original Sanex Board and helped set up TOP with JACS, Rache, Hel, Lindsayfan to menton just a few. I am one of JACS Vice Presidents. JACS is a great President, there can be no-one better for TOPs than JACS.

I live in East Anglia UK although I was born in Lincolnshire. I am a Group Administrator in Local Government.

Apart from Steffi Graf, Lindsay is my favourite tennis player and I will be very sad when she retires.

I love TOP and all I want is for us all to get on together really well and be a happy band of people. We have always been regarded as one of best Forums on here and I do wish to keep it that way.
Heres to the TOWER OF POWER and Lindsay and to being a happy positive crowd.

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR PRESIDENT JACS WHO DOES A GREAT JOB AT ALL TIMES.

:wavey: Great idea for a thread. I'm Leo from NJ, USA.

I agree with Kelly that if you have the opportunity to t...ravel now, Joaco, you should definitely take it. You never know when you could have that chance again. I was fortunate enough to have visited France and Italy a few years ago and I loved the travelling experience. Hopefully I'll be able study aboad in the future and have time to see the world when I get out of college. (Btw, do you pronounce your name like Joachim Johansson does or differently?)

During the summer I work at my local tennis club which is fun for me considering my obsession with the sport, but it's not long-term or anything. I just found a new job at a library that has decent pay. I'll see how that goes.

Besides playing tennis, my hobbies ae pretty basic and average: movies, music, writing, hanging out with friends, etc.

Hi Kelly.

Also, not quite sure what to do with myself. :p Right now I'm looking to go out to the University of Nevada Las Vegas or San Diego State, but I'm still debating. I want to ultimately get into a Casino/Hospitality, so that would probably bring me out to Vegas anyway.

And yes, bills suck :p

Hi Jacs.

I also know about injuries. I seperated muscle from my foot and fractured my heel last year playing tennis, and was out for about 5 months. Then earlier this year I needed surgury to correct a rotator cuff tear, which had me out for about six months. I just started playing again, won a round at a local scrub tournament then losing 6-2 6-4 next round. :p

Andrew.
Oct 5th, 2004, 01:42 AM
Hi Leo.

I did tennis instruction for a while part time, mostly with kids. That got kind of annoying though, because it was a local scrub club with the rich mentality. So I quit after a few months.

Andrew.

RayRob
Oct 6th, 2004, 10:40 AM
Hi All,

For those who don't know, I'm Rachel and have been about since the days of the Sanex Board back in '99! I've been a Lindsay fan since I first saw her on TV at Wimbledon back in '94 but didn't seriously follow her career until '96 (for two reasons, 1: in '94 I was 12yrs old and fickle so was only reminded of Lindsay when Wimbledon came about, 2: round about '96 - just before the Olympics - we got Cable TV so I could watch Lindsay more often).

Outside of being a Lindsay/Tennis fan, I have a diploma in Art and Design (covering several art disiplins from Fashion Design to wood/metal work, and Fine Art to Photography - specialising in Graphic Design). I also have a degree in Graphic Design; graduated last year. Have since been unable to get a job in the Graphic design field due to lack of experience so have been offered a placement working for a company that produces promotional material for various companies, including Sainsbury's.

In the meantime I am working 4 evenings per week packing CD's, DVD's, Vinyl....basically home entertainment stuff. I've so far picked up many injuries from this line of work: bruises of various colours and sizes on the inside of my arms and legs (from lifting/droping boxes etc), fell back onto a pallet full of CD's bending back 2 fingers on my right hand, the following day I dropped an oak pallet on my foot and for the last few days I have been suffering with pulled muscles in my arms. Other than all that, I quite like the job.

Hobbies: watching movies, listening to music, playing bass guitar, (trying to play) acoustic guitar and have begun to venure to the drums. I also love juggling: can juggle the 3-ball cascade, but am now working on juggling hoops, clubs and diablo. I would like to get some Rhythm Sticks and try them out too.

That's about it really.

rach...... that is great that you play bass guitar. It's such an important (and can be very difficult as well) instrument to play, i don't think most of the people realize that. For my part I play the piano, have been doing so since I was little. I pretty much like to play classical music, tango, coldplay or radiohead, or my own compositions.
Right now I have an injured finger therefore I cannot (shouldn't) play the piano. I did it whilst playing rugby and it hurts! I cannot help it though and I play with four fingers on my right hand. Anyway, I'm going to the doctor now, so he can take a look at it. I'll let you guys know later.
Does anyone else play an instrument besides Kelly, and Rache?

- Nice to see u around Vale!:)
bye everyone

But, now I have the rest of the week off, which is reason to be happy enough. I found a new book that I'm reading, Carolyn 101. It's by Carolyn Kepcher, the woman next to Donald Trump on the Apprentice. Love the show, and love her too.

 Kelly. I watch BB every now and then but it is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, I must admit. ;) The challenges are just so incredibly stupid and the "twists" (i.e. putting exes together in the house, and now twins) is dumb.

Honestly, it's almost impossible to find quality reality TV. The only two reality shows that I watch on a regular basis are Survivor and Amazing Race. Survivor is always interesting to me because of the "stranded on a remoted island" conept and the development of alliances while Amazing Race is informative about differnet cultures and landmarks around the world - a delight for hopeful travelers like myself. :D

I missed tonight's show. Someone please fill me in. :pSo each team had to sell a particular product for 15 minutes on live QVC TV. The guys chose a grill and sold it at $71 each, I think. Meanwhile, the women chose a packet of 30 "super sponges" (or something like that) which they sold for $27 all together. Also, Trump decided to add a new leader named Pamela, supposedly a more experienced businesswoman, to the struggling and disorganized women's team. What I didn't understand was that she was a player in the game with a chance of becoming "The Apprentice" even though she hasn't been around the whole time (I think she worked with the men's team once in the past or something). Anyway, she was a bright, strong leader and she whipped the women into shape by giving out strict orders and not accepting any bickering among the girls, but, at the same time, she was too sure of herself and refused to recieve feedback from the other women. The decision to price the product so high was all hers, despite complaints from the others that 19.99 would be more reasonable (Trump et al agreed that it was overpiced and should have been lower). And your beloved Carolyn said that if they set the price as most of the women wanted (19.99), they definitely would have destroyed the men in this competition. In the end, the difference came down to a measly, heart-breaking ten dollars (practically a tie). And in the boardroom, Pamela tried her best to defend herself, but she was rightfully fired.

Sounds like an interesting reality TV show - I don't think that we have it over here in the UK, unless one of the sky channels buy it at some point (they usually buy the US TV). It's always interesting to see what sort of things people will pull to get ahead of others.:o

I persume that question was for me since I mentioned CSI - not kelly ;) lol Yeah the origional Las Vegas one is by far my favourite! [I got series 1 & 2 on DVD, just need #3] At first I didn't like CSI Miami, but it grew on me eventually. My fave characters are Grissom and Sara.

Has the CSI NY started in the States yet? We [in the UK] won't be getting that until the New Year - is it any good or have the creators of the show gone a little too far?

I also have the first CSI game on PC - I've still yet to buy the second one; Dark Motives

HMV recently had a sale and each half of season 3 was £20 - so for the two it would be £40. I refuse to pay £40 for the 12 episodes or so of the one half of a set! I don't mind paying £40 for the complete series. How much is it in ASDA then? I think it may have to go on my Christmas list!

I have the first season of Will and Grace on DVD - I do think it's very funny! Jack makes me laugh......I saw him in a film recently, I can't remember what it was.....it might have been "Our house". I always fully expected him to get type cast in a camp role - that sometimes happens, but he doesn't play a camp character in the film I saw him in....which was good. I couldn't imagine him in a serious role though

Speaking of camp, the strangest film I ever saw - and I don't get it - is Camp.....just thought I'd mention it.....lol

Rachel -

I love Will & Grace. I think the best ones on the show are Jack and Karen. I watch it every Thursday night here in the states. I'm so glad Grace dumped Leo. He annoyed me.

I persume that question was for me since I mentioned CSI - not kelly ;) lol Yeah the origional ...Las Vegas one is by far my favourite!

-Rachel
Ooops, so much for my reading skills! :p

Yes, Las Vegas is definitely the best. And I love basically all of the main characters (Sara, Grissom, Kathryn, Warrick, and Greg) except for Nick. He's just bland and boring. Too much of a "good Southern boy." And I did get the CSI PC gae as a gift but I'm yet to install it and try it out. Is it fun? Looks great. And I didn't know there was a second one already!

sAs for New Yrk, I'm not exactly in love with it yet, unfortunately. Gary Sinese's character is so cold and stone-faced; he has no personality. He does't deliver those funny, witty one-liners at the start of the show as Grissom or even Horatio (sp?) from Miami. Although maybe I should blame the writing department on that more than him. The series premiere of NY was a real bummer, I thought, but the storylines have improved since.

Oct 11th, 2004, 03:41 PM
Oooh, tis ard to pickjust one episode of CSI that I liked the most. From las season, the one that I'll always remember is the one with the vampires and the casino heist. The faux vampire thing was just spooky and weird consdering that real people believe all that crap while the casino bit was a continuously winding puzzle with new clues popping up just to confuse the characters (and the viewer) even more - classic!

I find it amazing how the CSI fascination has spread over the world! It is the #1 watched show in the US, with CSI: Miami not very far behind at #5 or something like that.

Bah,ignore my gazillion typos. My keyboard is acting funky. :p

And yep, the 5th season has premiered here in the US. The first episode was great: 4 different cases all at once. :D And Greg tries to become a full-time CSI. And in the most recent episode, a relationship appears to be forming between of the CSIers, but I can't reveal who. ;)

I'm watching Lindsay's match against QUEEN VEE at the US Open this year. Makes me happy. Her service returns were so good. I can't believe we have to wait until the YEC to see her live again. Please, play Phili, for me. :p And OMG2004 they just showed the Mrs. Leach shoe line. I'm wants NOW.

I purchased The Simple Life Season 1 on DVD today. I'm thinking of watching it later tonight. Absolutely stupid show, but fun nonetheless. I'm playing a tennis tournament tomorrow. We have a nice series of tournaments around here that usually take place on Sundays. Hopefully I won't be deathened like last week.

Easy week this week work wise. Late shift on Monday and really early shift on Wednsday. Blah. But I'm off Tuesday, Thursday and Friday yay. Hopefully no one will call in sick. That would make me very anger if I had to fill in for someone.

That's all you're going to tell me:confused: it was "bad".;) I must say though jacs, that I've read some of your reviews on your website and you write bad reviews about films that I really like :tape: - so I'm going to take it that I might really like Confessions

LOL Rache... It was too sitcom-ish for my taste ;) But then I'm just a cynical soul from the Philippines, so what do I know

lol jacs.....I have to say though, that on this occasion you were very, very right! Although I think that Lindsay Lohan played the part well I just felt that the storyline was pushed too quickly and it often lost my attention. Also, some of the characters weren't filled out enough for me and I thought they were put there for the sake of it. Like that Sam character - what was he about....perhaps just there as the token "love interest". The twin sisters were pointless and the plot would have been fine without them and the question was never answered as to why "Lola" doesn't have a sound relationship with her father.

The film is great for kids who enjoy watching brightly coloured images and dance scenes but I felt there was something missing. Having said that, and being a bit of a dancer myself (while in my teens) I do appreciate good dance coreography, which is why I enjoyed the "dance revolution" scene. Worth a one time watch, but I wouldn't buy the movie :p

That's my oppinion anyway ;)

I saw Princess diaries 2 on saturday.....I actually kind of liked it! I also bought Shrek 2 on DVD on monday night because I wanted to watch it (hadn't seen it before). It was really good - as good as the first if not better! There is a feature on the DVD called "Far Far Away Idol" which is just a take off of Pop Idol/American Idol. On the same night I bought another film that I'd never seen before called "Mission Without Permission", it's a Spy Kids type kids film but I really enjoyed it. I think it was called "Catch That Kid" on the cinema in the UK.....which at the time I thought was a pretty crap title.

She was signing it whilst walking with 2 bodyguards and to be honest it really doesn't look like Steffi's either but at least I know she signed it, I was there! A moment I will never forget nor the one in the street when I met her and her coach, Heinz going to practice. To actually say hello and wish her luck for her match, I don't think I have ever quite recovered!;) I actually felt so shy speaking to her:eek:

LOL, it was like a memoribilia/autograph sales company that deal on Ebay. I was the only bidder for the autographs but I think that most tennis fans in the USA are able to go to these big tennis events, it's easier for them to get top players autographs in person. For me, I can only get to Birmingham DFS Classic to get Autos, and only managed to go Wimby once and didn't get any autos there.

Autos I got are; Alicia Molik (after she won the bronze medal I was able to tell people that I got an Olympic medalist's Auto in person - ), Corina Morariu, Renea Stubbs, Elena Likhovtseva (by far the most entertaining moment in my autograph collecting!) and a couple of brits - Lucia Ahl and Jane O'Donahough.....they're all on one big tennis ball (but not those huge ones you see at tennis events.....it's about 6 inches in diameter. These Autos I got at Birmingham - I go there evey year (except this year because I wasn't in the country!)

When I went last year, I saw Elena D talking to her mum - she was next to me, but I was too scarred to go and ask for her auto because the conversation looked serious! The first year I went, in 2000 Jen Capriati walked past me and I had to do a 'double take' and I remember saying to my dad "That's Jennifer Capriati - didn't know she was here". She'd gone before I could think of something for her to sign.

I keep telling people my "Elena Likhovtseva Story" - even my sister humours me, because even thought she hasn't a clue who Elena is my sister still thought it was funny. When I was watching the Fed Cup the other weekend, I saw Elena on TV with the Russian team and I kept saying to which ever member of my family came in the room, "That's the one who wanted to borrow my pen!"

Basically, I asked her to sign my tennis ball and she was like "sure, no problem", I thanked her to which she replied, "you're very welcome" (she was very polite). So, pleased with myself I walked away, then I heard a Russian accent shout, "Excuse me", but I just ignored it, then the "Excuse me" seemed to be louder and with a tap on my shoulder. I turned round to see Elena standing there, I looked at her in a puzzled way and said "yes?". Elena smiled and said, "Can I borrow your pen?" There was this little boy who wanted her auto but neither she nor him had a pen, she knew I had one because she had just used it. I thought it was sweet that she came running after me to use my pen, just so she could sign this little boy's program. - aww bless.

So that's my amusing moment.
