My mother died of cancer 10 years ago this past August, and my father of a heart attack 6 years ago. To this day there are still moments where I could turn around and ask them a question about something I'm going through, or seek their advice or comfort or support for this life we are all living. I think, through time, you will begin to see things, maybe like your father has seen things. You'll come up on moments in a day where you will stop and think "I wonder what he thought", and sometimes you'll know, other times you will not. From my experience, I think the best way to deal with the pain, hurt, and emptiness you are feeling right now is to think of life as a circle, a continuously moving and living circle. Nothing that we know of really dies, it just changes form. Your father has transitioned into another form, possibly to what he was before he was born, but still living energy. Life is as we know it is a series of doors and windows which we continually pass through. Death is rebirth when you think of it like this, and even though you can no longer be with your father in the room you both occupied yesterday, trust me on this, you will speak with him in your dream time, and will eventually learn to enjoy and learn from such communications. There is positive energy that will come out of your pain and grief- there is a reason for it, and the fact that you chose to share your grief about his passing is proof that he succeded in giving you love- a seed inside of your spirit which never dies.

Peace.

Jeff that was a really lovely post and I understand what you mean when you say there are still times when you could turn round and ask someone you lost a question and wonder what they would think of certain things. I lost my mum to cancer 5 years ago now and I think everything you said in that post is so true.

I Love Sharapova, my thoughts are with you. Take care.

70 is quite young to die these days. Loads of 80plussers are hopping around.
My father is also 70 BTW.
I wish you a lot of strength in this difficult moment.

A poem to share with you. It has helped me in many different situations. Hope it helps you in some way.

Your dad will be in my prayers tonight...

After a While
By Veronica A. Shoffstall

After a while, you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts,
And presents aren't promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open,
With the grace of a woman, not a grief of a child,
Because tomorrow's plan is too uncertain for plans,
And futures have a way of falling down on mid-flight.
And after a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure...
That you really are strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn and learn...
With every good-bye, you learn.
