ok, for grad school and for my b-day i got an ibook and matching 20gb ipod.

i have questions. because i am currently running win98 and have never used itunes.

does itunes search the net for your CD tag info when you insert it, like other programs do so you dont have type it in?

are skins and the cases, like the official one worth it? can you burn you garageband music to CD? or put it on your ipod?

will imovie let you burn movies to the old but still useful .mpg format on CD or does everything have to be in quicktime or DVD?

how hard is it to add extra RAM later?

EDIT: as an asside i am a little annoyed that my ipod has already shipped but the ibook has not so i ma end up with an ipod i cant use for a few days, not the end off the world.

Ipods cannot be used with Windows 98, so if thats what OS you are using, you will not be able to use your IPod or iTunes.

thats why i have questions.

ok, i thought i was pretty clear but maybe the second times the charm

1-Right now, i am running windows 98.
2-for grad school and for my bday, i have been gifted an iPod (http://www.apple.com/ipod/) AND an iBook (http://www.apple.com/ibook/)
3-because i am running widows 98 right now, i have never used itunes before
4-since i have never used itunes before i have some questions about itunes and the ibook
5-i will use itunes with the ipod when i get the ibook in the mail, sometime this week.
6-in the mean time here are my question for anyone who can answer any of them:

ok... all i know is ipod info...

itunes does connect to the net and CDDB to look up album info... only thing it doesn't do is add the album art for you... you can either purchase things from the itunes store that's already tagged for u, including album art or you can go to amazon.com, walmart.com, etc to steal the album art and drag and drop to the little album art window, if you're into that sort of thing

things you d/l from kazaa, etc. you will have to tag yourself. you can do this in itunes or any 3rd party tagging software.

the cases are definitely worth it because as you can see, it scratches easily and the metal back is hard to keep clean.

i would only fool with a case that allowed me to change my songs easily. so one that doesn't cover up the front entirely like the official case is essential.

check out ipodlounge.com for case reviews and other addon reviews for the ipod. iskins are popular and cheap in price... but if you want a leather case and have the dough... vaja cases are real nice.

hope this helped you.
