What makes DEMENTIEVA so famous?

Lena D would be known to a lot people just for her serve... :(
..but those of us who have seen a lot of her over the last 6 years know Lena for her top class groundstrokes, lovely personality, courageous attitude and nice looks :D
Lena's performance at the USO hopefully gained her a lot more respect and showed a lot of people that theres a lot more to Lena D than an interesting serve :hatoff:

I'd say serve. The whole of the WTA tour and probably the ATP tour know about that serve. Whilst I cannot wait til she improves it, its also something that makes her very human (I'm not defending it btw).

There have been artciles and photo shoots about her looks too, so that could also help.

Her groundies and personality are not well documented at the moment IMO, but I'm sure if she continues her success, she can definitely become more famours for her game and personality too.

I noticed her ground strokes. The serve never use to be this bad.

Unfortunately that's the one thing that stands out from Elena. Her game and position as one of the top WTA players makes this unavoidable - she is not supposed to have that serve.

I am satisfied that people who are intelligent enough can look past Elena's serve and realise that her strengths outweigh her weaknesses. She did not become a top-5 player and a two time GS finalist without talent.

I known her from her ground strokes and then her beauty was like woah and then her serve got attacked a lot. Elena D is pretty famous and tall.

I think her lack of a serve but now more or less how good she is and how good her game is even without it.

She'll be forever famous for that moving tribute after her USopen loss.

Her serve makes us all know her, her groundstrokes let us know that she's good, and add all those up with her good looks and awesome personality, no wonder she's famous!!!

Serve, cause what people think of when they see Elena is "oh, she's the chick with the weird, slow serve" "oh hey look! thats the hot blonde chick with the funky serve!"

but after awhile you watch and see her, you totally forget that and you're jus amazed at how she is as a player and person

Well I think her groundstrokes are consistent and powerful. She can also move into the net at will, but a better server will always beat her game in it's present state.

Dementieva not only is a peasure to watch on the court but quite possibly has the best pair of legs Iv'e ever seen.

There are two things which are truely stands out for Dementieva.
1 The Serve. It's so infamous that the ball will go back in time. :tape:
2 The killer groundstroke. Well that's the thing keeps her going. ;)

I love her ability to hit winners from ANYWHERE on the court.

I think its here serve and how she deals with it, her heart, always fighting back, winning tough matches, no matter how many 59 mph serves, I think people love her cause she plays tennis like she really loves it, the matches she wins, she deserves to win...

hopefully she will get famous for improving that serve, maybe with 50 mph stronger
and her looks dont hurt esp as of late, she is stunning and for me perhaps one of the prettiest players on the tour...
