dunno. i think the loss at the olympics to justine really got to her. it's hard to recover psychologically from matches like that sometimes. i believe she even said so after she lost at the US open.

OMFG!!!

That's insane. I don't like Myskina but seriously... you gotta feel sorry for what she must be going through...

One match can have a real impact.

Is this still a negative effect from her lost match at the Olympics,
like she said in her interview after her loss in the USopen?
Poor Nastya

I dont think MYSKINA is over athens yet, and I can understand, it is a once in a life time chance and she was nearly there and she lost it, 5-1 in the deciding set only to loose again ....I would have been devestated.....she needs to take a break and give herself a chance to get over it, she hasn't been doing good at all ever since the french open......all the top seeds are out in BALI now, we have Kutza and Nadia...one of them will get it now.....

Sometimes I think that Amelie must be paying Nastya for stuffing up so many tournaments. Nastya almost seems to be going out of her way to avoid reaching # 1 in the world at the moment.

Hmmmmm, now what would it take to buy off Lindsay? :hehehe:

Lemonskin.
Sep 16th, 2004, 10:43 AM
Lindsay will be #2 quick-smart the way this is going :bounce:

There was a mini earthquake yesterday, I think I'll blame that
on Myskina's loss. She needs a vacation away from tennis- ASAP!

It's called Majoli syndrome.

Greenout is right, she needs holidays to escape from tennis!
And she must recover soon because LEIPZIG AND Moscou are coming !

gossipcom
Sep 16th, 2004, 11:07 AM
Lindsay doesn't even have to pick up a racquet till the end of the month and she will be no 2 since Myskina is going to lose 420 points from Leipzig and she technically will be no 2 when that happens.

Since Leipzig has been cancelled this year (from what they've stated on WTA Tour website) so all points from that tournament will be taken away at the end of the month.

So basically the no 1 position is on the line between Mauresmo, Davenport, Myskina and Henin-Hardenne when it comes to Filderstadt because any of them can get the no 1 position. It's basically whoever goes the furtherest (with Mauresmo in the box seat).

To be honest I'm surprised Nastya came here, she doesn't really need thsi tournie. Yea, she needs to take time off after Athens and the USO.

 at the seeds in Bali!

Myskina is entitled to a slump and she is having one right now. She should probably think of the indoor season as a warm up for the AO and take it easy. A little less travel might do her some good.

For a tiny fun/exhibition/Tier III Bali has(had) a hell of a draw.
Myskina, Sveta, Petrova, Ai, Chanda, Gisela, Flavia P,
Bartoli... this draw is strongest of all the Asian hardcourt events!

I don't think that's fair it's not the players fault that the tournament will no longer be a tournament.

boggs570 it isn't fair, but it happens in tennis - it's happened to many players this year and in previous years.

Especially when a tournament is either cancelled, change of date, or a new tournament has come in its place instead.

That being said Myskina is playing too much tennis at the moment - if she keeps it up she will burn out before she hits Moscow.

For the girl that was double bageled by Kim earlier this year, this is a shocking win. :o Myskina, it's time to take a break. Get it together. We love you with or without a medal. Who knows in another four years.

Fantastic
Sep 16th, 2004, 02:13 PM
Maybe Anastasia's brain just went into holiday mode. After all, she IS in Bali. Yeah, that's it. That's the real excuse for her loss. ;)

While it must have been shocking to lose a match after being 5-1 up, I find it hard to believe that a tough cookie like her wouldn't have moved past that by now. She's a Grand Slam champion and the World's No. 2 player who has had wins over most of the top players. How could she not have the confidence to carry on with business knowing that she is one of the best players in the world? It's not as though she loses from winning positions regularly. In fact, she often wins whenever she's IN a losing position. Also, she's not exactly playing girls who are the calibre of Justine. If she were, I could see how that would effect her mentally and how the story would be so much more different.

dylan24
Sep 16th, 2004, 03:05 PM
myskina is mentally weak and who knows if she will ever recover
from that olympic choke. she might need to see a sports pyschologist.
myskina may never recover from that choke. she should just take the rest of the year off if she is going to play like this. losing matches to anyone and everyone.

I hope Kuzzie's follow-up results to her Slam victory are better than Myskina's and Sharapova's but she is overplaying, too. I don't know what's wrong with these people; Mysk and Kuz have played too much recently; I was shocked to see Kuzzie playing the week after her big win in the USO. And is still scheduled to play in Beijing. Who does she think she is, Federer?

In the old days the #1, #2, #3 players had a certain prestige about them and only on the rarest of occassions would someone ranked so high lose to any ol' body... (no offense to her opponent) It's just that being a top ranked player is no longer a guarentee into the later rounds. Just look at our current number one, again, in the old days the #1 player was almost a sure bet to at least reach the semis- today they're lucky if the reach the quarter finals. Not only that but in the old days the top ranked players won all the big titles, they weren't simply consistent.... But hey, I've adjusted to this new kind of tennis and I gotta say it does make things a bit more exciting when at any moment your favorite player can be upset..
