No she hasn't performed yet...i think she's next though.
Usher was performing, did a backflip and his Chain got caught on his MIC....too too funny. But he worked it out still.

No it is going to take more than a couple of months of sobriety for her to recover most of her voice back but it looks like she's on a positive road.

However, Patty is showing how you are suppose to take care your voice so that you can hit notes when you're sixty!!! Go Patty!

She still sounded pretty good..even without an album out in years and not enough of training she still sounded 100x better then the young popstars today..Avril Lavigne..Hilary Duff..etc. ;)

Gosh I miss the classic singing (like early-mid 90s) and I was very pleased to see Celine Dion as well..guess we're still lucky to have Alicia Keys who IMO could be a legend as well.

Glad to have you back Whitney!!

She can STILL hit those high notes..it was incredible

But I agree..back then she could have done "I will always love you" in her sleep and she had to take some small pauses here..but yea look at my last post lol

The "stef" part of 'stefwhit' is in honor of my favorite tennis player- Steffi Graf, the "whit" part of 'stefwhit' is in honor of my favorite singer- Whitney Houston.

I was soooo proud of her tonight. (I'm on the West Coast so I just barely caught it) She's had some really rough performance the last few years, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I have to say that this performance put my fears to rest, Whitney is definitely on the right track and for the first time in a long while I saw traces of the Whitney from yester-year. It's nice to see her getting back on track and I imagine it wont be much longer until her voice is at its fullest. Whit also looked beautiful- she looked more mature and like always had remarkable stage presence.

She sounds "really good" at French because it's her first language. She could barely speak a word of English until she was about 20 years old... I think.

Baby has still got it!

Her voice is progressively getting better.
You can see the difference between her concerts in
Russia before she entered rehab and now a couple months
removed from it!

I so proud of her!

She looked every bit of
the Goddess she is! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Well, I watched Whitney's performance.
She still behaves like a diva (and I like it), but her voice is not there.

What annoyed me the most, is when she made everyone wait for a note, which she didn't hit at all (she was very far from it) !

Apart that, she was great to watch though.

I have to agree somewhat, but the making everyone wait for a note bit is nothing new from Whitney. When she was at her best any performance by her was breath taking and they always included long pauses between notes.

My favorite performance was the one she did with CeCe Winans on VH1 when they sang Bridge Over Troubled Water, and her AMA performance of I Have Nothing was the best.

Last night I could not wait to see Whitney perform, but was a little dissapointed about how she could not hold the notes. I do see that she is getting better, and hope that she returns to those stellar performances because she is indeed the greatest singer ever.;)

Celine looked really good last night. And I enjoyed her performance alot too. Whitney was okay... I dunno though, she's still not all there with her singing... but it was a zillion times better than when she was last on the Divas show... that was painful!

I liked her performance, it was brave and she was smiling and seemed to really enjoy being on the stage. I saw the real Whitney last night. She was still the best singer including Dion last night imho.

Whitney you go girl!! Keep on keepin on.:)

Celine's first language indeed in french and im so happy she thanked us in that languauge! She remembers her roots!!!!

It is great to see Whitney back, but I don't really think her performance was that good...She had some difficulty to reach some notes and her range wasn't there as much as usual....

And how rude was Clive Davis saying 30 seconds after Celine received the Diamond awatd for the best selling women of history to say that everyone agrees that whitney is the best singer in the world  She definitely didn't show it yesterday...

 Well, to be honest neither did Celine. Her whole typically OTT stage performance was cute but her vocals were lacking in places... probably cause she was running around all over the place which she loves to do with that song. She sounded kinda shrill... it hurt my ears in places and I never like when she does "oooh baby... you're looking good baby" ad-lib thing over and over... It's like "enough already Celine" But... It's just the way she likes to perform that song and I still enjoyed it lots :) Her voice is still all there, more so than any of the other big 1990s divas... I saw her show in Vegas and her voice is near flawless, especially on "I Surrender" :worship:

I surrender is jsut amazing.....Not a lot of people could sing that song.....I so wanna see her show....

I agree Celine's vocals were all over the place, but it kinda went with the song....while whitney's lack of tone was really really obvious...

Anyway both rock comapred to Hoobastank *sp?* and Maroon 5 * i was so disappointed*

I think that in regards to Whitney you have to put things in perspective to appreciate where she's at right now (vocally speaking). As mentioned above, she did a number a couple of concerts earlier this year in Russia and another in the Middle East- for any fan it was hard to listen to. In all honesty, over the past couple of years Whitney hasn't been close to what she's capable of- and that's what has always been most disapointing. But last night was different, she had clearity to her voice. She had the look back in her eyes. She was working the crowd just like in the ol' days. There were shades of my beloved Whitney, who at her best- is the best.

It wasn't her best performance by any means, but it's a sure sign that she's definitely on the right track. Based on what I heard last night it won't be long before she's at full strength.... I hope she comes out with some new music in 2005...

Hi Stefwhit..............Yes whitney and her long time music industry DAD Clive Davis has she refer him to..............because that's man how know her as a child and waited for her to finish school and watch her grow up and he said Whitney is very special to him the daugther he never had so he said he failed the last time when she found herself in trouble and this time he won't fail her he his going to stand by her all the way because that is the promise he made to her beloved father that past a-way.............Yes the music man and whitney will be making beautiful music again for 2005

Agreed..Celine wins the legendary award and a minute later Clive says this lol..thats exactly why I wanted Whitney's performance to end the night not Outkast/Patti Labelle..altho they too did pretty good.

And I was also looking forward to at least seeing a little tribute to Celine as well..the award she won looked just like the other awards singers won that night.
