Oh, I just heard the awful news!  Anyway, Ina Garten just called me and she's throwing a going away surprise/tearful farewell bash for Martha at the Barefoot Contessa on Sunday. So, I can bring 10 of my closest friends. I obviously have some tickets reserved for my special buddies here, but who else wants to come?? Hon, if you know Ina, you know two things: sinfully rich meals, and lots and lots of booze. It'll be a blast!

:)

Well I can't make it Hells, but I hear Amy Fisher and Leona Helmsley got into a knock down drag out in a Walmart parking lot for the last few invitations to Martha's wing ding.

Hel take me please! I don't have the Emmys to do on TV and if I don't go to this thing, I will be alone at home throwing ice cream at the screen whenever Star Jones comes on!

Joan, you're one of my special guests who's not part of the other 10 extra tickets I got. Don't worry, when you've won an Oscar, you can basically get any number of tickets you want. Plus, I gave to Ina Floyd's mother's fried chicken recipe so she owes me.

Should I come in a orange jumpsuit,or will Martha be handing them out as we arrive? One doesn't know what to wear or bring to these things? :o

Oddly enough, I heard that Martha's working on a new shade of prison orange. Something a bit more Fallish, like oh say, to blend in with her New England Fall changing of the leaves (I meant guards *cough*) colors. :o

I'd like to go, if Angelina Jolie's going to be there.

Don't forget Hel, if I get in.... I'll bring plenty of the yellow ones with me. As the more yellow ones I have, and run the risk of seeing Angelina the more you have a major story on your hands. Joan can't miss out on reporting about this... it would deserve to be on TV Guide Channel, DAMMIT!!!

Ohhhhhhh....I'd love to come! J'adore Ina!!!! I have the biggest crush on her Husband as well. She can whip up a mean cocktail and she doesn't spare the frills!

Ina is one class act and damn that broad knows how to mix booze and food......I did not know they were so close though. I had Martha really did not associate with too many of her Food Network counterparts but I guess as usual I bought into rumors.

Jakeev, Ina did a lot of articles in Martha Stewart Living before she hit the dizzying heights of superstardom with her own show on the Food Network, though some still refer to her as the "poor man's Martha Stewart." Basically it was a Margot Channing/Eve Harrington scenario, only Ina is really nice and Martha was glad to help. They know each other socially at this point, but they are on good terms, obviously Ina is throwing her this party.

Ina is Martha Stewart minus the evil and about a billion dollars. Actually I like Martha. I can't go to the big party due to scheduling conflicts but send my regards!

Will do, Sal. That's a really good description of Ina. Like, I think Ina would be friends with me even if I was a nobody. Martha wouldn't be caught dead with me if I was a nobody. You really nailed it, Sal!

Without Martha, how will I ever plan my Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners?
She always made it so classic, now I'll have to actually use my own brain to come up with table setting ideas.

I do wonder if Angie is going to be there, if I knew for certain I'd bring the yellow ones with me. Hel, have any preference on colors? ;)

Helen has disintegrated into crack...save your yellow ones for "real stars"...:wavey:

Hon, I only take the yellow ones! Bring those.
Ange may or may not be there. Ina made a little faux pas, she invited Ange and her dad, so there's a stand-off going on. Ina should have asked me first, I could have told her to invite one but not the other!

You have any idea about the guest list, Hel? Is Hilary going to be there or is she scared to be associated with Martha during an election year?

Will do, I have plenty of the yellow ones I've been hiding from the significant other. :tape:
I certainly hope Angie shows, and Jon decides to stay home. Isn't he off the Hollywood A List by now? I can't think of anything good he's done other than ride the coat-tails of Angelina's success on Tomb Raider. :o

Hillary is way too political, she won't be there. Martha's policital poison ivy at the moment. I usually don't pay attention to guest lists because I'm too into myself and my own plans on who I am bringing to really care. I mean, I'm on it, isn't that all that matters. But, I hear from Ina that Mary McFadden, Ally Hilfiger, Sidney Biddle Barrows, Neely, Joan, Kitty Alexander, Donald Trump, Kathleen Turner, Caroline Kenndy Schlossberg, John McEnroe and Patty Smyth, Jocelyn Wildenstein, Angelica Huston, Kathy Lee Gifford (sans the coyotes), Brett Sommers, and Nathan Lane will all be attending. Ina likes to mix it up with the guest list.

Oh I'd bet my socks on the fact Hilary will be there. Even if it is an election year, and some of the world views Martha as a crook, Hilary wouldn't miss this for the world. It's free publicity after all, and that during an election year is priceless.

Jon is B-list but for Martha's generation, he's still bigger than Ange. Ange is still A, though, is all circles.

Nice to see the McEnroe-Smyths attending. John is begging me to go on his show for some ratings and I am sure he will be there trying to snag possible guests so make sure you don't agree to anything you don't want to girls! And I swear to God, if Nathan Lane corners me again and goes on about how amazing The Producers has done I am gonna slap him this time!

Is Liza going to be there? Or do her and Ina have problems?

Helen Lawson
Sep 17th, 2004, 05:59 PM
Liza doesn't do too many parties anymore. No one wants to deal with a drunk woman in a wheelchair, it's just too much drama. If she hosted a party, fine, but she doesn't go to too many at this point.

Sally Struthers

No Liza can't be taken anywhere these days since she can beat up anyone when she's in a drunken rage according to David Gest.
