I always enjoyed watching Irina Spirlea. A very talented player who never quite made the jump, but lovely shots.
Sabatini was just beautiful to watch when she was at her peak. And the excitement of her second serve was fun too!!
Steffi - I REALLY wish there had been many many more Graf/Seles GS finals. They were always so fabulous. Graf on top form was just dazzling.
Chrissie - a real lady, but such an amazing competitor. I remember being really upset when she quit.

Sep 14th, 2004, 10:26 PM
Julie Halard of course. :)

I miss her great smile, her wild but wonderful forehand, the huge highs and lows of her matches, the alternately glorious/awful tennis, her gorgeous accent, her goofy but somehow entirely cool walk...its never been the same without her!

I miss loads of players. Steffi for her grace and her forehand. She always looked so elegant when she played and was always gracious in victory and defeat.
Martina Hingis for her cockiness and perma-grin whether she was winning or losing, and her intelligence on court.
Jana for her gorgeous serve-volley game and the roller coaster rides that were her matches. I loved watching her play but could never relax until it was over.
Arantxa for her guts and fighting spirit.
Natasha, just for being Natasha.

Irina Spirlea and Natasha Z for making things interesting. Glad people remember Spirlea. After they both left I kinda lost interest in tennis and now hopefully I'll find a new favorite. :)

Arantxa  for her fighting spirit

Sep 15th, 2004, 01:36 PM
Gabriela Sabatini-her class was unique in the game + she seemed like the most gracious and nice player of her time

Anke Huber-Such a nice game to watch, specially that "strange" forehand grip of her.Her grunts were classic. And I'll always remember her for her outbursts on court:Anke screaming on court in german when she got frustrated. That was fun!

Natasha Zvereva-Loved her wicked, unpredictable game. The pair with Gigi Fernandez was really fun to watch. You could sense they really enjoyed tennis together.

Iva Majoli-Loved her powerful strokes.I was specially cheering for her in her early beginnings as Monica was out of the game, and Iva had some of Seles fighting spirit in her.

Natalia Medvedeva-Not a very well-known player, but she was a joy to watch when she was on.I remember that tourney she won beating Arantxa & Conchita back to back. She played like angels. She was Andrey's sister, who I also supported.

Naoko Sawamatsu-She made tennis look so easy + she was such a nice girl.

Kimiko Date-Although I liked Naoko better,I also enjoyed Kimiko's original game. She made some unbelieable shots and was one of the best fighters I've seen on Tour.

Sonya Jeyaseelan-such an amusing personality,a cute smile and a very nice game to watch. She retired way too early

Zina Garrison-very fun to watch also. Her game was solid, she was a very good attackant.I used to love her little dance when she was waiting to return. It cracked me up.

Lori McNeil-I saw few matches of her,but she was very entertaining to watch.

Ines Gorrochategui-I used to hope she would be Gaby II,but she never flourished. She was some elegant player as well.I don't even remember when she retired, she simply disappeared.

Barbara Paulus-She was very nice to watch.I remeber I liked her but not Wiesner and I wanted her badly to be the number 1 of Austria.

Mirjana Lucic- Such a big talent, she vanished too soon. She would have done great things in tennis.Loved her power tennis.
