If Venus wants to qualify for L.A., she pretty much has to win both of those.

Is there some kind of boycott of Zurich? Is it not a Tier I anymore? Is hingis the commentator, and all players fear her? What gives?

it's not really - lindsay has been known to withdraw from events due to safety concerns. she even withdrew from the fed cup finals in spain a few years ago before anything had happened there

Further on, Serena also entered Advanta in Phillly before YEC, if she does well in all 3 tournaments, she should guarantee herself a spot.

Is there some kind of boycott of Zurich? Is it not a Tier I anymore? Is hingis the commentator, and all players fear her? What gives? According to the website, the only players committed so far are Momo, Justine and Lindsay. I expect a few more players will join them ;)

Not the point...when you have a super tier II like Filderstadt, not gonna play tier III´s with barely any top 30 players. Specially if you´re a major champion and top 10 player.

In 99,9% she will win in Korea and Japan so she will get 215 points + bonus points.

So it's much better choice than play in Germany and lost for example in the 1/4
