I thought I'd throw it into its own thread.

I posted this in the Fall thread - this is a detailed list of who's ranked where, the position in the Race to the WTA Champs and also the tournaments that the top players are committed to.

Please note only the players involved in the Race to the WTA Champs or Top 5 positions will be added for now. Basically the people who have are a challenge to the no 1-3 positions.

http://personal.gossipcom.com/tennis.html

Please note there's now two pages involved in the spreadsheet - tennis and tournaments.

ETA: Since the tournament in Leipzig has been cancelled this year, Myskina will lose valuable points because of this - technically in the last week of September Lindsay doesn't even need to pick up a racquet and the no 2 position will be hers.

ETA(2): Thanks to her US Open Series bonus, Lindsay passed the $18 million mark in career prize money - no 4 on the all-time list and closing in on Martina Hingis who had about $18.3 million.

Alrighty updated after China Open final - for a moment there I thought Kuznetsova was going to go into 2nd spot in the Race - but Serena nipped her down just in time :)

Lindsay leads the race for at least another 2 weeks since the top 5 are not due to compete until Filderstadt or later...

It also means Amelie's got the no 1 position until at least the Kremlin Cup.

Lindsay is still more than 600 points ahead of Amelie and Kuznetsova. If she makes the semis of most of the indoor tournaments she should be #1.

Filderstadt, Kremlin Cup, Zurich with possibility of Linz.

She's got no 2 wrapped up as of this week - she just has to hope that Mauresmo either falters big time during the indoor season since Mauresmo only has 2 major tournaments to defend before the WTA Champs - that is where Lindsay could very well make her move.

The thing that isn't in her way is being no 2 seed she won't capture as many quality points as if you were seeded 4 or 5, that's why progression in a tournament is critical (the same can be said for Mauresmo @ Kremlin and Advanta).

She just needs to stay injury free and have a consistent indoor season (aka making the QF or more) to have a real chance at no 1)

yep Nadine but Mauresmo has to defend points of Chase Champs Final, while Lindsay has nothing!!! so I think Lindsay has a great chance to end as #1 if she reaches SF in all events she's gonna playing. I'm pretty confident she can do it. it would be a dream! ;)

Are you sure that Lindsay will be n2 this week? Well,I think that we needn't to be confident with her performances in the indoor season, no one knows what she can do, she has already done an excellent season: 6 titles,(4 in a row), ranked n2. Can you tell me can she was ranked n2 before?? So it's a very good performance, just enjoy watching her playing good tennis, and maybe still winning tournaments!!! n2 is already unexpected and who would believe it last year? And n1 would be obviously the best, but who knows...

The last time Lindsay was ranked #2 was in August this year after winning San Diego.

Yeah I believe if Lindsay stays injury free she will get the no 1 position at the end of the year - I'm just saying looking at a honest view of the rankings, etc - unless Mauresmo falters big time in the European season, she won't get the no 1 ranking before the WTA Champs.

ETA: I'm going to rephrase the above - since I forgot that Kremlin Cup points came off before Filderstadt this year - bottom line is if Lindsay wins Filderstadt next week or proceeds further than Amelie she would get very close to that no 1 position, since as of next week (on base points) there's only 184 separating them.

To me, Amelie doesn't deserve this first place at all!!! She won just 3 titles, made just on semifinal... Ridiculous compared to Lindsay's performances this year...

Linds definitely deserves the no1 slot. She is now 2 in the world so it looks like it won't be too long before that No 1 is against her name.

Can 't wait to see her play again. Lets go Lindsay:cool: :worship:

Updated the rankings page as at QF stage @ Filderstadt.

Amelie extended her lead by 12 points after the 2R matches at Filderstadt

Gossipcom, do you know a site which looks after rankings, points, about all the players? Had had it in my links but I don't anymore because of my bloody computer... In this page, I remember that there's a green background, and there are the tournaments the players did, and the points they got...

When Lindsay finishes #1 in the race, she's going to win another Porsche. That's 3 cars she will have won in the matter of a few months...wow!

That's true. But someone said it accurately on GM: Lindsay has a whole new set of family members to provide cars with now that she's married to John, so se better keep winnng 'em! :D

I just updated the spreadsheet since Advanta points have been taken off, etc.

Amelie accepted a wildcard into Advanta so she can take over the no 1 position, if she has a good showing.

If not it'll go down to the WTA Champs :)

Lindsay at the moment holds a 700 point lead, if Amelie wins Linz and Advanta it will be more 200 points - so basically if Amelie won WTA Champs (and Lindsay bundled out in the RR), she'd get the no 1 - but if Lindsay can get through the RRs she's all but assured the no 1 ranking through till Australia.

Solution: If Mauresmo goes undefeated through the end of the year and Lindsay sucks hard in LA, Mauresmo is #1.

lindsay wont suck!

lindsay wont suck!
I said that would be the only way Mauresmo becomes #1: Mauresmo goes undefeated and Lindsay sucks hard at the YEC.
