Despite his many and various faults...

I still like John.

He's funny, and talented, and the most intereresting commentator around. Love or Loathe him.

He was also the most naturally gifted player Ive ever seen.

I don't appreciate his commentary for the WTA , I think it's a slap in the face because he so dislikes women. Male chauvinist pig! lol

I will never forget that actress Camyrn Grimes getting in his ass during the US Open. He he

He really likes Justine Henin. And he doesn't dislike women's tennis, otherwise he would give commentary on tv. He knows a lot about tennis, and he's sooo funny. I like him

Interesting how some people occasionally take the attitude that bashing a tennis personality is OK, and people who like that personality should just not concern themselves with it. Then at other times the same people flip-flop their attitude 100%.

Sure Johnny McAss likes Henin, especially when she's playing Venus. You would have thought Justine was the American playing the final at Wimbledon the way Chris and John were all up her azz. Venus didn't get many kudos until she started killing Justine and it was like they "had" to give her some credit. I'm wit chu Dawn.

Dawn, do you realize who John McEnroe is? He is a legend and an American Icon. And you're disrespecting him this way? Believe me, he likes women and women's tennis more than he lets on. I've heard him talk glowingly about Justine Henin's tennis and Anna Kournikova's ...uh...and Anna Kournikova! And he's always talking about his daughters, and how because of them, he appreciates women more than he used to.

P.S. Dawn, nice phrasing of the question! I was worried for a second!

P.P.S. - While John McEnroe is the best men's tennis analyst, Chris Evert is undoubtedly the premiere women's tennis analyst. Queen Chrissie rules the television booth the way she did the tennis courts!

The way he insulted the Williams, I would give no respect to him. If he wants to recieve respect, he has to gives respect either!

Who is him to say that thing about them? Did they ever visited the girl's locker room to comment about they way they act, and the way they live?
Get a life John! U suck!

John McEnroe is a child. I was really beginning to like him the past several years and then I saw him in person at the French Open last year. We got tickets from a scalper for the ladies semi's and after the match we wandered over to the old court central. Low and behold it was a senior men's doubles final with McEnroe/Bahrami vs. Forget/Noah. The french guys were having a blast. Noah pulled down his pants at one point. The crowd loved it. But McEnroe was furious the entire time. The fans started giving him a well desereved hard time and he walked to the sideline and told someone, very loudly, to Fuck off!!! He gave Bahrami dirty loks every time he missed a shot. It was embarrassing and humiliating as a tennis fan and an American. I knew he was doing it because there were no American media there. The other guys knew it was nothing serious, senior doubles, but Mac was acting like the '81 US open singles final were on the line. UGH!

Kurt you need a huggie? I don't like it when your talk down about yourself like that. Don't be so amazed at yourself with flip floping around. Just be strong and stay out of threads that make you feel that way.

Love and much kisses to my friend disposable. You lil Bengal fan you Don't sweat the small stuff.

Who is Kurt? Dawn, I'll have you know that John McEnroe is a future politician. He may even be the honorable Mayor of New York City within 15 years. John is alot more than a pain in the neck to some people. He cares more about the plight of the world than you give him credit for. Don't you see his good side?

Pretty much from day one of Wimbledon last year, John earmarked Justine Henin as a player to watch, with a game he rated highly. It wasn't just a Pro-Henin conversion when she ran into Venus.

All the commentatators have their various sympathies and favourites, just as we all do.

It makes things interesting...for instance we had the mix of Pam Shriver and John a few times on the BBC. They disagreed a lot, sometimes Pam put him in his place, sometimes vice-versa. Their banter was fun to listen to.

It added colour and enjoyment to the game, and throughout the BBC's coverage, John was by a mile the best commentator around. A treat!

If the US is tired of him, I'd be happy to have him do all his commentary for us Brits. Anything to save us from (snore) John Lloyd or (arrrgggh) Jo Durie!

Dawn, I did not vote because I enjoyed all the choices and could not decide which one was the best one

Could you make your polls easier in the future!
