Error filled match, but Venus kept it cool throughout the match, fighting trough the bad patches.

Don't know who I'll be cheering for in the next match.

I'm really glad that's over with. Venus has no other alternative but to play better. I hope we see that.

Congrats. She will need to play 100% better to have a chance against Lindsay.

Venus...I love you baby, but you have to pick it up against Lindsay :(. That was a horrendous match :(. Errors, millions of second serves, no first serves . Let's go Venus...pick up the forehand and serve love :hearts:

chanda played a pretty good match. i just wish she held it together at the end. had break points leading 3-1 in the 2nd but venus kept coming up with the big plays. take away venus' first serve on the big points and she would've have struggled to get through.

well done for venus.

and chanda has something to build on for the indoor season now and next year where she will kick butt with no points to defend.

Venus talked about this was the first time she felt normal and in form pre-injury - not necessarily what I saw on the court but if she's feeling something, fighting spirit, I hope all that she spoke about comes through against Lindsay.

Yeah, that was strange. Because her level of tennis was far from normal. But I guess, she is the only one who knows her body, her emotions etc. Just hope, the old Venus comes out in her match against Lindsay.

Well I hope she is as ready to play lindsay as she says she is but her play wasn't exactly supporting that statement. Anyway happy that Venus got through that match she held tough for the big points nice fight from Chanda hopefully she will remain injury free and builds on it for the rest of the season and into the next.

re:Venus feeling normal
actually, this was the first match in a while that I didn't feel like she was playing tentative. other than letting Chanda take over at the net, I thought she was playing aggressive. Maybe that's what she meant by "normal"

I took it to mean physically...like she felt no twinges or anything. She clearly wasn't talking about her level of play but maybe she felt well physically like she wasn't scared if it went to a 3rd set cause her body was going to hold up or something...

Like Venus' said you probably have to be a competitive athlete to know what's she talking about. Well it shut the guy up and for that I'm grateful no matter what she meant by it..
