View Full Version : Proposal for YEC

I think to make the YEC more exciting and more fairer - make it a 16 draw again - more chances for players to compete. Complete knockout stages but each round takes place on a different surface.

1R: Harcourt

QF: Clay court

SF: Grass court

F: Carper court.

This would have to take place somewhere hot in November so maybe somewhere south of the equator. This means that in order to win the trophy and the title you have to compete on all surfaces meaning that surface-one-wonders will have to fight it out.

Yeah - it could work and would be great to see the four surfaces in the same tournament. Just need a place that houses all the courts and a big enough stadium.

You could insert a hard and clay court in an indoor facility easily but grass?

And where would they find this stadium with the magical surface transforming courts. I like it with 8 players. It means only the best compete.

They also could have the 4 round in 4 different countries. Best of 7 sets.

Nude also.

The top 8 idea looks really bad this year. There is practically no point difference between 8 and 12 (not much between 6 and 12 actually and 13-16 are not far below 2000 points either) and no scope with 8 to deal with injuries. The 8 that go get a significant number of points for the next year which creates an artificial advantage. This year it could be really bad with more than one top player, playing relatively well or returning from illness missing out.

It'd be cool with the current 8 format if each round robin match was played on a different surface so each player had to play each surface once. Then in the semis the player with the best record got to choose the surface.
