View Full Version : Which players are the most natural?

JCF
Sep 4th, 2004, 02:18 PM
I would say:

Hingis - Just natural in every department
Davenport - Groundstrokes are so natural, doesn't look like she's putting any effort, no grunts with the power or anything
V and S - Athletism
JHH - Backhand
Capriati - Forehand, movement
Clijsters -
Mauresmo - Not sure either.

Dementieva's groundies are very natural (even if the serve aint) and she also has great
natural athleticism.

I don't think Sharapova is very natural, she just plays the trademark way. Heard the way she grunts when hitting a groundstroke

Grunting=player is not natural? :confused:
Actually it means they are putting more effort into their shots, so it doesn't come so natural. Same could be said of Serena, whenever she hits a shot hard you can here the effort put in.

SWP
Sep 4th, 2004, 02:32 PM
All players put a lot of effort into playing, some players grunt and some players shout and umpire, some people do other things. Its just putting effort in a different way. Doesn't mean its not natural IMO.

Something you are born with. Justine's backhand is natural, but her forehand and serve for example are not, they required alot of work.

So you mean Justine Henin Hardene was born with that beautiful backhand?
No wonder she's so goofy!

This thread is stupid...
First of all, be more specific by wot you mean in natural..
Natural beauty? Natural playing style? Natural personality? Natural make-up? WOT???
If you can't be specific, then don't start threads like these.
Movement? You mean her footwork or her movements-like touching her cap etc?
I didn't know  was natural for Clijsters.
Athletism....Takes heaps of hard work and training to acquire that...
How is Hingis natural in every department?
By saying that Mauresmo looked like half a man...that's natural?
Or by showing childish tantrums while playing against Steffi Graf natural? Well, don't blame me for posting this since you said that Hingis was natural in every department.
Stupid stupid stupid thread....Are you bored or wot?
Coz if you are, then that's UNNATURAL!

patty's game is very natural, but some of comments in this thread are so ridiculous. justine was not born with her backhand. she didn't hit her backhand when she was 5 like she does now. it's a naturally struck stroke but it still required years of hours of practice to get it to a professional level.

the reality is that nobody is born a "natural tennis player" - they all required a hell of a lot of work to get where they are and some were just with different gifts which might make them appear to have a game less workmanlike than others.

conchita martinez could play tennis and make it look effortless. great hands, great feel for the ball, and a very natural mover. although not fast around the court, her antipation and footwork meant she'd nearly always get to the ball and do something with it.

irina spirlea - one of the most natural strikers of the ball ever. very gifted.

gabriela sabatini - great hands and feel for the ball. made hitting with extreme spin into something of an art.

Dear this is a board for discussion about players. I didn't know about KC, but i'm sure others have some knowledge of it. You really are looking into a decent thread too much. And what about Momo - whats natural for her?

mauresmo is more natural than 99% of the tour IMO. her forehand may look weird but to me that suggests it is more natural. those with a good technique are less natural because they have learnt how to it that way and it has nothing to do with it naturally developing without interference from coaches.

terms like natural and talent are too ambiguous IMO to have constructive opinions about.
