Who will win?

I'll be rooting for Vera. She's been good this hardcourt season. Would love to see her make the QF's at least.

this will be tough but I feel Lena D will do it in three she is moving well and apart from the serve (which seems to be getting better) her game is good right now,but she will have to bring her proper game to the court!

LenaD might crack this one..anyway im still wondering...lenaD advance to the 4th round here last year and she did the same this year..if she loses(although i dont want her to) will her points will stay the same or will she lose points because of the withdawal...??? good luck lenaD but its going to be tough..fight very hard!

Vera hit 40 winners against Zuluaga, and I'm convinced that she will be able to outhit Lena from the baseline.

If Vera holds serve, she will win.

I'm thinking Vera will do it, but both being inconsistent, it could really go either way.

All Russian affairs are tricky. There are a lot of other factors that suddenly become involved. On form, I'd give it to Zvonareva, who has the better serve and some blistering shots. But anything can happen here.

She's now on 118 points last year she'd 122. Last years Bali points are coming off too. She's in total 335 points to defend.

Im not sure, Vera isnt looking at her best in the other two rounds but with Elena D you never really know what your going to get...It should be a good match if both play to their potential (which is highley unlikely). Im giving the edge to Elena cos she is the mor older and more stabler of the two and if it comes to the crunch shoudl be the one who pulls it out.

LenaD knows if she wins this she maybe near to hit the number 5 after so long she's been talking about it..so she may play really well..and the hunger to play singles..cos she got a walkover...so im sure she wants to be on the court and hit really well..
but zvonareva WOW..she really impress all of us this summer..

lets just hope we get a good quality match from both girls as they are both capable of playing brilliant tennis when they want to! Vera has the edge on serve, Lena has the edge on movement and groundies.
May the best girl win they are both great ,i will be rooting for Elena Obviously but if she
loses it will not be a disgrace!

I voted Elena in three. Cera is talented enough to take a set off Elena, but Vera has underperformed against the top players at times.

She played some of her best tennis earlier in the hardcourt season, whereas Elena's is still yet to come I feel.

Plus Vera gets extremely emotional on court. Elena's serve and Vera's nerves will be the biggest factors here. Going ourely by experience, I hope Elena pulls this out.

Good luck Elena!!!! :)

Good Luck Elena! Just a couple more wins to top 5!!! (if she'd won a few more matches at AO and Wim she'd already be 5!!)

If Lena makes her usual amount of errors then Vera. If Lena serves well and doesn't make too many unforced errors then the victory should be hers.

Dementieva loses to players with decent serves and returns, Vera has more than that. Straight set loss for Dementieva.

But she's facing a much tougher opponent here. I think Vera will win.

It's vera's time to make another slam breakthrough.

Out of the two, Vera is the one who has been performing solidly in the US Open series. I believe Vera will win this one.

However, you never know what's gonna happen for a Russian showdown. I believe one of the determinants is whoever holds her nerves stronger. Mentality is a big factor in a Russian showdown.

Whoever wins this would (probably, unless a major upset happens) play Mauresmo, and I believe that Vera would be better equipped to take the fight to Momo.
