She plays Patty in the next round which should not be as tight.

Tatiana should have really won that first set. She was up 4-1 only to win just 1 of the last 7 games. Experience really helped Serena in this match as did Jen in her win against Vera D.

I was worried about her knee too after she did that split but it was cool that she got a winner Kim look out. Not her best match but she toughed it out and played the big points well.

At least Tati made it close, hardly anyone beat Serena in US Open ever since she won it:).
So nice showing or Tati.

Tati  :crying2:

But nice match from her though, she had the right game plan. Serena was just too good in the end. ;)

Well done Rena :hearts:  :D

A few rough patches but she played well on the important points. I'd still like to see her move into the ball more regularly instead of sometimes hitting off her back feet. Still a good effort. :yeah:

Serena missed several shots. Tati played awesome and showed that she's not afraid of Serena. I hope that Tati will improve her skills and be ready to play much better in 2005. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Golovin played great and seemed to have great fun out there. She kept looking at herself on the big screen and was interacting with the crowd a lot.

Serena needs to cut down on her errors though. Tati was getting everything back and Serena was going for too much, trying to force winners. That's how to play Serena it seems at the moment. On a side note I think we might see some more traditional clothing from Serena in the later rounds because she looked extremely hot and a bit uncomfortable at times!

Felicitations Tatiana! That is a lot of games to win. She really seems to be progressing.

One thing I wanna know: What was happening with Serena on all those bpīs?! Was it Serena making errors or Tatiana hitting great shots?!

...yeah the two stats that bother me most are her break point conversions and her 2nd serve winning percentage. The UEs don't bother me as much, usually when she's confident and not on, she'll keep going for it because she isn't too worried about lossing (you see this only when she's not playing the big names).

This was a great match for Serena- she can draw from that match and the next time her game goes off, remember what she did to right her wrongs.

Fantastic

Obviously nothing because she lost.

Uhum.....I think Serena needs to hit that 2nd serve bigger, because obviously people are kinda feasting on it. But itīs cool..she won and thatīs all that matters for now.

One thing I found amusing: Tatiana said that she wasnīt impressed by Serena..

What was Tatiana's game plan against Serena? What did she do well against her?
She was getting a lot of Serena's shots back and forcing her to go for too much. She was also hitting down the centre of the court a lot to cut down the angles and Serena would often make a mistake because of this.

Tati didn't go for spectacular winners on every shot but played herself into the point then hit the winner. I think Serena could learn from that! Serena's serve was amazing though and was definately the biggest difference between the two.

Just donīt get why Serena has soooooo much trouble with that down the middle tactic....she really needs to work on that.
