you're kidding right?

She's totally kidding although it would be funny if it did happen because CBS and the USTA would be so pissed off that all those seeds lost early.

I think this is turning out to be very interesting. Most of the tops seeds are still in it, meaning its a good chance to see who is playing really well. No excuses, no easy path to the final. It seems like a good way to end the summer!

In the bottom half all the top 16 are through and Morticia Myskina is the only top 16-seeded played to have gone down so far! Finally, we have a slam where all the best (except Clitoris) are there and playing through to their showdown rounds. it's gonna be a good second week.

Francesca can take Momo again if Momo is off (like she has been since the Athens SF0) Francesca is playing better than in the Spring and has just beaten a very big hitter.

Sveta has been more convincing than Justine so far. Petrova is blasting opponents aside. Masha is playing brilliantly in patches and if she gets by Sveta will by definition be dangerous for Justine.

Patty can beat Serena and Serena is fragile and Patty might get in her head in the way only Patty can.

Ai could beat Jen. On a Jen bad day anyone left could beat Jen.

Bovina is on a roll and its about time for a Davenport choke.

Might be that Venus is the only known player by the SF.

you're kidding right?Well... don't you ever get bored seeing the higher ranked players win all the time? This would be LOADS more fun. And the announcers would all have to learn the correct pronunciation of 'Chakvetadze'.:)

i always get bored by the same players being in the same rounds every week and i appreciate your outlandish predictions.

Two Japanese players into the round of sixteen. Fine showing from the land of the Rising Sun. And despite my belief the Rayond had a chance against Henin-Hardenne, JH2 broke her in the first service game. Looks like Lisa's faith is serve-and-volley is about to be tested. The Battle of the Blondes is into the third set, which would make me think Sharapova's superior conditioning should win the day.

Absolutely! (Though I'm somewhat partial to the middle-tier players) After having watched Chanda Rubin be overlooked and under-appreciated for years, I'd be a very happy man if she could somehow have one glorious run to a Wimbledon or US Open title. Oh, what the hell, if I were allowed to pick next year's Slam winners by the Tennis Gods, I'd have Ai Sugiyama win the Aussie Open, Conchita Martinez the French, Silvia Farina Elia Wimbledon, Chanda Rubin the US Open, and Maggie Maleeva the WTA Championships ;)

I'm surprised Pierce beat Sharapova. maybe I should be, but Mary's been lost in the wilderness for so long, I can't quite believe the top ten player is back.
