I know that the US Open champion receives US $1,000,000 in prize and the runner up receives US $500,000, but how much do they really get after taxes??

Thanks to the US Open Series, Elena Likhovtseva earns 10% extra on her 1st round showing.

If the champ lives in Florida, New York or California, they recieve approximately $2.50 after taxes. The runner-up gets a Susan B. Anthony dollar and a left over 'Compassionate Conservative: My Way or DIE!' button from the Republican National Convention.

they take out, i think it's an automatic 30 percent tax (either 25 or 30 percent) from all foreigner's prize money at the USO. So Henin got 700,000 last year.

Gee, I'm not sure. Let's phone Peter Graf and ask him- he'll have a pretty accurate record!
