Damn, even when Venus has the center court, Usa just shows Maria's match. How ridiculous. it seems as long as Maria is playing every other player and their matches come 2nd to her.

The reason Venus is struggling (if you want to call that) against Uberoi is that Tracy said no one from Venus' camp scouted this player.

The reason Venus is struggling (if you want to call that) against Uberoi is that Tracy said no one from Venus' camp scouted this player.Unfortunately, Venus is in denial. It's time for her to get a new coach and work on the weaknesses of her game. She also needs someone who will get their asses out there and scout for her. :fiery:

The days of her beating folks on general principles are over. The other girls have gotten as fit and they hit as hard. It used to be that she only had to bring her A game to the top 2 or 3 girls.
Now almost everybody can beat her if she's less than 90%.

It's nice that she is doing all of the other things because there is nothing sadder than some other folks who have no life but tennis (they shall remain nameless of course :o ).
However, Venus should heed that old saying, "you dance with the one that brung ya". And tennis is the one that brung her.

i think that the weakest part of Vee game is her confidence.
she really needs to work that part. those losts against Serena in the serena Slam hurted her confidence and we are seeing it now.
rthe other girls can play as hard as Vee now but they donīt need to since Vee does HUGE UE in her matchs now.

When your forehand and second serve sucks and you start losing, your confidence goes out the window.

What's not wrong with Venus game?

* Confidence
* Forehand
* Serve

I kind of agree, that it might be good to try a new coach. Even Jennifer has tried a new coach.

If she wins this match, I am doubtful about the Rubin match.

Look folks, they have GOT to show Maria. She's been hyped up so much as the best thing to happen to tennis since Anna K, that they have to root for her and they have to show her.

Get used to it. Until she loses they are going to make it happen.

About her not winning anything since Wimby, Tracy said that she shouldn't be expected to win everything because she's so young.

But she's the saviour of women's tennis and she has to be shown.

Serena won her first Slam at 17 and while she didn't win another Slam for almost 2.5 years, she did win big tournaments in the interim and a gold medal in the Olympics. To be honest, she was struggling in the first set, because as Tracy said, Richard nor Oracene scouted Uberoi prior to this match and if that is true, I am surprised at them because they should know better being the coaches of veteran players. Once Venus got to know Uberoi's game, she was in control. However, she won't need to scout her next opponent's game.

Sometimes I question if Tracy is Maria's aunt or something, she makes excuses when she struggles ie.. her age, and hypes up everything she does. I for one don't care what commentators say, but with all this talk and shots they take at the sisters I'm looking foward to when they retire and see what the tennis commentators do without their favorite targets. 10 to 1 they will turn their hate to the "savor of women's tennis" Maria Sharapova.

I wonder if Tracy is influencing the coverage. We were supposed to see Venus on AA Stadium, but since Maria's match started late, we saw more of that than the Venus/Uberoi match. I thought when Venus was down 4-1 they were going to switch to her, but when they saw she was coming back, even when there was an injury timeout in Maria's match, they showed her warming up.

I don't think that is the problem I see it more as Sharapova was given the spotlight on Centre Court already on Tuesday which was understandable while Venus was barely shown now Venus is the one on Centre Court and supposedly has the featured match tonight along with being a two time champion at this event so any reasonable person would expect some extensive coverage of her match instead they are giving us Sharapova redux with a little Venus sprinkled in so I don't see anything wrong when someone questions the lack of respect.

Damn, even when Venus has the center court, Usa just shows Maria's match. How ridiculous. it seems as long as Maria is playing every other player and their matches come 2nd to her.
Well, why not. She won the last slam. She's the flavor-on-the-month. When Venus was on top, they always showed Venus' matches, even when they were blow-outs. If I had a choice, there would be a Venus Williams CHANNEL, but I'm not gonna blame USA for going for the highest ratings. Especially when it's the winner of the last slam.

Well Venus has been pushed around a lot, but I dont mind that Sharapova was put first tonight as her match was already in a third set. What I DID mind was when they were showing RODDICKS WARMUP when they could have been showing Venus' match! REALLY lame, USA, REALLY lame.

What's worse, is that Maria is not exactly producing "great" tennis. That match was full of errors.

I would have loved to see more of Venus tonight. Since I did not see one single shot of her on her first round.

I was extremely disappointed to see Sharapova more than Venus, but hey, that's life.

We all didn't see much of Venus's first round match, and hardly any of her 2nd Round, but I thought she corraled her game well. Definitely not her best, but I don't think it was a bad match either. Forehand was pretty solid, I did see a dropping of the head double fault, but looking at the stats she diid good. 25 UE and 23 Winners, not bad in Vee standards. And she had like 70%+ first serves in. I think Venus will improve each match. But she definitely needs to up it a level against Rubin.

GO VENUS! :kiss:

So how much coverage if any should I expect to see when I go home and watch tonights coverage.you'll get like the first 2 games of Venus, then from 1-4 Venus to 3-4 Venus, next from 5-5(very long game) to 7-5 Venus. Then from like 4-1 Venus in the second I think to 6-1.

I'm not concerned about this at all. Sharapova is the flavor of the month and it happens this way quite often. I'm more concerned over Venus' play and happy she won. Sharapova can have the spotlight and Venus wins the championship.

So what, everybody is being upstaged by Serena. Serena's the only woman who has yet to play on anything other than Ashe Stadium. :lol: J/K :p I'm sure she will be put on Armstrong if she makes it to the 4th round.

Why are Capriati's matches shown all the way through with little interruption? She is not the flavor of the month. As a matter of fact, the Caps has not even won a tournament this year.

This is the fuckin US Open for christ sakes, and while I don't really care what court Venus is on at least they could have enough respect to show the majority of her match.:rolleyes:

What's the whole point of putting Venus on center court at night if
it's not even being telecasted on tv? Wasn't this the reason for
the night matches- primetime tv?????
