If Lindsay retires this year it will break my heart

Sep 2nd, 2004, 04:47 PM
Likhovtseva is recently enjoying some really good results, some of the best in her career lately, so I don't think she'll retire yet, even with a first round loss at the US Open.

Sep 2nd, 2004, 06:15 PM
I think Greg will go till at least wimbledon!

Sep 2nd, 2004, 06:17 PM
Greg isn't planning to retire this year. He said so the other day. That doesn't mean he shouldn't retire.

I hope Amy Frazier's not planning to retire because she's playing her best tennis right now. In fact, in Cincinnati the other week, she said she was planning to stick around for "awhile".:hearts:

Wayne Ferreira and Todd Martin have both retired (thank God!!):tape:  They both were just treading water the past few years. Taking up space. It was pitiful.

Lindsay was planning to retire but I hope she's changed her mind after winning all those tournaments this summer. I think she was just frustrated over the silly little injuries that kept popping up. She'll probably stick around for a year or two more.

I think Andre Agassi will retire after the Aussie Open next year.:worship:

Sep 2nd, 2004, 06:30 PM
Cristina Torrens Valero and Gala Leon Garcia both said their goodbyes :wavey: already.

Sep 2nd, 2004, 06:49 PM
Goran

Sep 2nd, 2004, 07:45 PM
Gala-Leon Garcia (WTA) retired after Wimbledon

Sep 2nd, 2004, 07:55 PM
Is Lindsay actually comfirmed for retirement ?

I thought it was still a provisional.

The WTA had better start planning if Conchita and Lindsay retire this year as they'd better give both good farewell parties ... unlike the 1999 when everyone remembers Steffi going and no one talks about Novotna's farewell :tape: (even though they did do something for her as well !)

Sep 2nd, 2004, 08:08 PM
OMG I didn't even know Gala retired :(
Cristina.. Don't retire :(
Angeles.. Come back :bounce:

Amy Frazier
Elena Likhovtseva
Silvia Farina Elia
Monica Seles

I don't believe any of these will be retiring?

Karol Kucera might retire and that wouldn't be good for me.. He rocks :yeah:

I think we would have heard about it in Britain if Greg was retired. He can't retire anyway, towel manufacturers worldwide would go out of business.

I'm intruiged by the turnaround suggested by Martina Navratilova a few weeks ago, she seems to have gone from a definite retirement to a 'we'll see'. As for Lindsay I bear in mind her Wimbledon interview on BBC-TV where she said if she did retire she wouldn't want a big fuss or anyone to know, she would just announce it quietly after her last match. So now she has started to say 'we'll see' I wonder if it is to make sure no-one sees it coming. I hope she plays 2005 though. The Tour and fans will miss her.

Lindsay said in her interview today on USA that she would wait til the end of the year on any type of decision.

But for the first time today, she admitted the status on her knee that she had surgery on. Evidentally, another part of that knee is deteriorating, but not quite to the point where it will need surgery soon.

I really think that if Lindsay could definitely play in 2005, but it will be all up to her and how she feels her body can handle it.

As for Barbara Schett, I have a feeling she still has some fight in her. And the same goes for Amy Frazier who is having a better year than Schett.

What about Els Callens?
She'll retire only if she has to qualify for AO next year.
I dont suppose she will until she gets to play Antwerp, her home town tournament, T1 next year.

Hopefully Sandrine will.

Barbara Schett hasn't decided yet. Her official site says she will decide after Linz.

i doubt Monica won't play next year :)
