I'd say Jankovic can cause an upset, just based on results :o

There is only one outcome possible from this match!

Jankovic is dangerous, Masha has her work cut out and will have to play much much better than she did in R1 as I am sure she can, but I would not be surprised to see
Jankovic go through.

my prediction:

Jankovic d. Sharapova 4-6 6-4 6-3

I think:

Sharapova def Jankovic 6-2 6-1

Sharapova def. Jankovic 6-3 6-3

She'll have more confidence after surviving the first round.

thats the result i'd like to see, but Jankovic beat Llagostera-Vives easily...If Antollea Serra-Zanetti can beat Mashona Washington and Washington can beat Sharapova...who knows?

More of hope than expectation.

Jankovic will beat Maria if Maria doesn't manage to get closer to the form she had at Wimbledon...With other words, cut down on the UE's...

I still think Maria will win...But for me it wouldn't be an upset when Jankovic wins...

What impressive results has Jankovic had?

Lemonskin.

Right she can't make the 44 UE's she did against Granville.

* A win over Llagostera-Vives (who recently beat Chakvetadze at a challengers event)
* Took Serena to three sets very recently

I still think she could beat Maria, but Maria will be in my prayers tonight ;)

i'm a big fan of Jelena, but i think that Maria will win 7-6 6-3, Jankovic always plays good first match of the tournament, and then just stops. Last week she lost to Dementieva, and if there is someone in top 20 she could beat, that's Elena. Still Jelena has a title this year and she made few upsets, but she defends lots of points from september, including Dubai challenger 81pts, and she already played 22 tournaments. She must win here at least so she doesn't have to play 30 tournaments or something. She is fighting all the time, and i really hope she can pull a win here. If she does it will be a tough 3 setter. Just play like you played with Serena, but win this time :)

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO Jelena

Interesting that more people think that Jelena will win. Even though not many have voted!

I think Masha should win. Jankovic is daingerous if Maria makes too many errors. Does anyone else think Maria doesn't seem as confident since Wimbledon. Maybe she's feeling the pressure. Before she wasn't a top ten player so she had nothing to lose. Now she's one of the players they all want to beat.

Well...Granville played just like Sharpy. Doesn't Jelena
play the same way too? :tape:
