China steps it up for the Olympics as always.

The way the Chinese treat those who perform well in the Olympics, it seems like that would be more important to them than a major.

Do you know if China is giving some kind of reward to athletes who win medals? I know Russia is giving a monetary reward for each medal won.

They do give monetary incentive, I heard that they give out 250,000 RMB to gold medal winner and 250,000 more usually from local state. (don't quote me on that coz I heard from secondary source)

But the most important thing is that gold medal is value much more than in any other event and I believe that apply to tennis as well, they get much more coverage for olympic gold than anythin else, and that means loads more money from advertisement

It is a well known fact that the Chinese diving team became millionaires after Sydney Olympics as they went on a chinese tour of exhibition and from sponsors.

250,000 RMB is only $50,000

It may not look a lot to you, but for chinese, that is enough to feed your family well for 10 years

WOW, so happy for the Chinese. :D :D

I watched them against Chanda and Venus, and they were terrific, they really deserve to be in the final.

It'd be great if they faced Ai/Shin in the final! :yeah:

well, like it or not, they are not getting that much money for winning olympic gold. But as I said, monetary incentive is not the only reason why they are playing so well in Olympics, it is because they have a sense of national pride.

It's disguting, these Chinese are everywhere..even in tennis !
I don't understand how a so unexpererimented pair can reach the final. They win everywhere, and they get medals in sports in which they don't have champions. How do they do ???

Read my profile before speaking. If I am wrong, then I owe you a big apology.

The reason that I made that deduction about your post is that similar remarks and views were made by some when Serena and Venus begin to achieve consistent and positive results.

It was like "how is it possible athleticism and brawn are able to overcome finesse and brains."

I wanted to see Paola play doubles against her partner Pascual. Darn the opportunity of a lifetime is gone. But still I gotta give props to Paola for making the best results that she could with that slow partner of hers, Tarabini. And I defnitely give props to the Chinese for an exciting match and a tournament full of surprises. GO LI/SUN!!!!!!!

Thats definitely racist. The USA are actually leading the medal tally but no one complains about them being everywhere
If the Chinese team are unknown to you then you're definitely the one who lacks tennis knowledge. How can anyone call the 8th seeds who have won WTA titles unknown?
