They say lightning can't strike twice, but I am impressed with the way Molik played today and if she plays that way tomorrow and Amelie struggled like she did in the first two sets of her match today, expect Molik to go on to the gold medal round. If Molik plays bad and Amelie plays well, Amelie will win.

I would pick Amélie, but I have to say that I didn't saw the girls playing at the Olympics. It's just my feeling...

I think it depends on what's going on between Amelie's ears. No. 1 and a Gold Medal approaching, we could see a meltdown, or because this isn't a typical tournament, she could be fine. Interesting semifinals!

As I said before, the stats are crap. Besides, you are wrong if you think that you can make predictions only based on stats.

Alicia has a great shot at this. The surface is good for her, and she's brimming with confidence. We'll see how Amelie responds to the situation.

Yeah, for once I agree with lizchris. :)
   it sounded like a very obvious statement to me that could apply to any player. usually if one player plays badly and the other player plays well, well then it's obvious who's gonna win :o

Anyway best of luck Alicia in this match, you can beat Momo!!! :bounce: At least the Olympic tennis tournament would be somewhat redeemed if Alica managed to take gold. :D

I would say Momo in straight tough sets, for a final encounter with Justine.
Gosh I really hope so, I would drool watching my two favorites battling for the Gold AND number 1 spot.

Go Momo!!!

Mauresmo can't get no. 1 in Athens, as Justine has acquired enough points through the Semis. Still, unless Justine does better than Amelie, the US Open would be dangerous ground for Juju and the no. 1.

I know. But if Momo wins this ( and consequently earns some more points), it will show Juju that she is in a tough spot and that keeping her number 1 is gonna be much harder than everyone thinks.

Both their previous matches have been pretty tight so far, of course I would love Momo to win this win, but I won't be surprised if she losses. Momo definetly has to cut down on the df's and if Alicia serves like she did in the final set of their San Diego clash, there is not alot momo can do.
This should be a tight match, fingers crossed for momo.

It's always fun watching tight games as you don't know who's gonna win that match..

Alicia seems quite confident about her chances:

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/08/20/1092889323227.html?oneclick=true

Molik says she's not finished yet and has every reason to feel optimistic about her chances against Mauresmo.
She conquered the muscular Frenchwoman last month on the same hard court surface as used in Athens having narrowly lost their only previous meeting 7-5 7-5 in the fourth round of this year's Australian Open.

"I've got as good a shot as anyone," Molik said.

"I've beaten Myskina before also. Every single player in the draw I've had a crack at before.

"Especially with the form I'm in now and the confidence I've got, I don't see any reason why (I can't win the gold medal)."
