Justine played very well, was never in any trouble on her own serve.

Pierce's making TOOOO many UEs.. she could not return well on Justine's weak second serves instead she gave points for Henin.

Henin on the other hand, is looking good and the backhand is still amazing as ever and her serve is just sooo good today.

Not a bad match overall..

Mary was serving 70 % 1st serves in! Amazing!

That's the 2nd match in a row against Mary where Justine faced no break points on her serve!! :D

I stayed in the office to watch the second set after work. It was worth it. She is still lack of fluency imo but nevertheless a confident match by Justine. Well done.

However, the coming 2 matches will be much tougher. Myskina is quick and her backhand down the line is very effective. If Justine can't match the speed, we will see lots of point won that way by Myskina. Justine will need to play lot more net points and possibly dig deep into her pocket for some of her trade mark drop shots. It won't be wise to play baseline with Myskina as Justine's dog-retriver is not back to THE standard.

Whatever happens, I am VERY delighted with her return and her performance.

Mary played well. That's why she only got broken once in each set! I'm sure she'll be the first to admit she was beaten by better than her today. You should, too.

Great match, especially that first set, both players played so well. Justine's level of play dropped in the second set, but she was never in trouble.

Congrats Justine! :) You're doing so much better than I expected, never thought you would come back so strong

Well done Mary, she's playing great tennis right now, she was serving so well, let's hope she can keep her good form

BTW, in the Live Scores thread there's a discription of every game.
Reading from there, Justine served for the match with 1 ace & 3 service winners, if I remember correct!

Her first serve percentage was only average (50-60% or so). But her second serve was very very good. She was never really troubeled on her serve (I think she had not a single breakpoint against her). Plus she served like 4 love games... So against someone like Pierce that's very very good (especially considering that her serve has always been kinda troublesome for her).

Okay not a very scientific explanation but I hope you have an idea now ;)

Too bad Mary, I would have been really happy with an All French final. One of your closest friend becoming your rival for the Gold, man that would have been a matchup!
You did great, congratulations on your fantastic run, and thank you again for being such a great player and person.

Juju, you were fantastic taking down such a tough opponent, now get to the finals which will hopefully be against Amelie.
Battle of my two all time favorites, I don't even know who I will be rooting for

I watched the match. The serve has improved alot. It looks
more fluid, the ball toss seems a bit higher now. Whatever..
it works!!!!!!! She serve out the final game in the second
set with 1 winner and 3 "ACES"! Eeek!!!! This is not
the sort of BOSS we're used to seeing.

The strategy part still needs to get back. She made some
bad shot selections during the rallies which Mary won. Didn't
really try to move Mary around either. The BOSS is just
trying to feel the way of the court again, and you could
sort of tell. More offensive than defensive playing; but
with silky smooth serves. There were DF's but they were
not at crucial moments in the games.

Her arms and legs do look thinner; but I think the weight loss
has improved her mobility. She seems to run quicker than
earlier this year.

I agree with you, I think during her lay-off, she has practised a lot her serve and her game moving forward to finish the points quicker.
It seems to me that she's more compact when she hits her groundstrokes.
I'm glad she lost a little bit of muscle, that comforts me in the idea that she didn't need to bulk up like that to play very good.

And the problem is?

If you posted this question up in J-Time, the Philistines would've
given you an answer that is probably against the law in 10
States in the USA, and even for people over the age of 21 and
married! :p
