Without Eurosport and other cable channels, in France, the coverage sucks. I havent seen one point of tennis and not even clips. They barely speak about tennis at all and have been showing fencing every evening, because Frenchmen are competing. Otherwise the gymastics and swimming and some equestrian events have been show. The coverage of these events is just adequate at best. I am not being just patriotic in saying the American tv coverage is so much more in depth, its a joke. :p We do profiles, going to places like Romania, Russia, Chile what have you, and film them training in thier home town, interviews with their teachers and other maudlin stuff like that. you get like 20 minutes of theif life stories. then for unusualy events they have experts really explain the sport to you and a panel of famous athletes who discuss things and its just 10 times better. Not to dis the French sportscasters cause they are charming, just a mutch smaller scale show and product than USA olympic coverage. Whats your story in your home country?

It's all over the place, loads of different channels, you don't know when they're going to show what, I've been unhappy with the coverage.

it's so confusing here at the u.s. and so much of it is taped. right now they are showing this mornings preliminary swimming heats and the semis are on live. the semis will be shown at 8 pm :fiery:

our tennis isn't bad, at least we get one live match and one taped match per day

on another note, i hate gymnastics...it gets so boring after like 5 minutes
badminton is cool tho

awesome b-ball coverage today, esp. on telemundo :worship:

I agree France 2 showed the last few games of the first set in Amélie's match, then canal + was showing but left before the end of the match, now france 2 and canal + are showing fencing  The bbc is good cause they have interactive. I don't think they will show the full tennis match till it is the medal deciding matches.
They did show Mary/Venus match at about 1.30am.

Not a word has been mentioned about tennis, not a picture shown eighter. Non too surprising asthey never send tennis anyway. Now it is hours and hours with beach volleyball. Worlds most boring sport in my opinion.

They had a blip on the Today show about Venus and Roddick getting tossed.

I figure I get tennis all year, so I'm looking for other stuff during the Olympics.

The tennis is barely even mentioned by the BBC - especially after Tim's loss. :o

Even the interactive shows virtually nothing of tennis.

Eurosport has 24 hour coverage, but still shows no tennis. I think Olympic Tennis is rated lower than Badminton, Table Tennis and Beach Volleyball.

So far by hours of coverage I would rank sports as

1. Swimming
2. Gymnastics
3. Rowing
4. Horseriding
5. Boxing
6. Judo
7. Badminton
8. Diving
9. Beach Volleyball
10. Basketball
11. Sailing
12. Hockey
13. Weightlifting
14. shooting
15. Table Tennis
16. fencing

Rest: Nowhere.

Not completely! Let me make myself clear, firstly here in the U.S you have to resort to outside channels of the NBC chain of channels, like Bravo and USA. in the other hand i am glad at least those two make an effort to add tennis in their coverage of events. However what has really bothered me is that the main NBC channels dont even update or mention tennis as even part of whats going on. I mean Roddick was a favorite for gold, and not a word on him or the upset he received yesterday nor the other even greater upset of Federer. That really struck me the most, yes tennis may not be as popular a sport when compared to the other major sports like soccer, nonetheless it's a big sport boasting great international ambiance which incluldes world class top athletes. Hopefully Bravo wont go ballistic on me for some reason its got poor reception in Manhattan or it may just be here at my place. Well USA network will have the finals of them mens and womens in tennis if i am not malinformed. Yes i caught most of the Moya Massu match it was anything but a good match. Will they show any of the women's quarters this afternoon at 5 or 6 on Bravo? I hope to catch a glimpse on Henin to see her form, so far going by her results it seems so far so good, but shes yet to face a top 15 player actually a top 25 player? Mauresmo has held to her seed and carrying the momentum she created recently in canada. I HOPE TO CATCH SOME GOOD TENNIS THIS AFTERNOON! Venus' loss was a huge one, yes the unforced errors support it but i thought she was going to give Henin a run for her money in the highly awaited quarterfinal.

I think Usa coverage has been awesome except for the fact its all shown hours after it happens in primetime. But what can they do most people have jobs during the days and didnt take the summer off like me. THere is 24 hours of coverage here sometimes on 3 channels at once , how anyone can complain is beyond. If its confusing to you just go look at a TV schedule

Minutes of Tennis in German TV (ARD/ZDF): ~50

20 Kuerten vs Massu
20 Schüttler vs Andreev
10 Other Matches (Venus vs Melinda, Haas vs Roddick, others)

So I am NOT pleased with the TV coverage  :(

The only good coverage in Belgium is of tennis lol (and with tennis I mean Justine Henin ;)). It pretty much sucks overall (Belgian tv doesn't have the full rights apparently  ). So thank god we get to see Olympics coverage on French, German, British, Spanish and Dutch TV ;)

exactly, when I'm watching tv these days, the only thing I do, is changing the channels every few seconds to find a sport I like on one of the channels. I usually end up on the Dutch one or on BBC. And Sporza  it's a shame they don't have the rights to broadcast more, now they have all those guests with their 'interesting' comments. ;) ok, hearing it from a professional can be interesting once, but not if they stop coverage every few minuts to ask that person's opinion on this or that... plus, after 3 interventions, the guest only repeats the things he/she has said before...:o but apart from the olympics, Sporza is ok :)

every evening when i come from work, BBC Interactive is showing live tennis. i've seen a lot of matches, although they're nearly always just of the main court. but for around 4 hours in the evening there is live tennis. probably more during the daytime as well. if you don't have interactive then I guess you'd have seen none through BBC1 or BBC2.

Indeed (except for that last sentence, cause sporza truelu sucks imo). Well Brigitte, is Pieter the favourite? The day after: and Brigitte, Pieter really is the favourite now, right? And so on and soforth....

i love my coverage. but i hate that some of the big events aren't live!!!
nbc is quality but showing things at the wrong time, bravo-- i've not been able to keep their crazy hours, and somehow i get canadian coverage, and that's not as high quality as nbc, but more live.

well no coverage whatsoever unless you have interactive, but I don't mind, tennis doesn't treally deserve to be in the olympics. The defining moment for me to realise tennis shouldn't even be an olympic sport is when straight after Tim Henman lost his first round match easily, he was interviewed and he was smiling and happy to talk about US Open  If you are seeded fourth in any other sport and lost early, you would be crying your heart out, it is obvious that tennis players doesn't really care about olympics and that in turns means that no one else care as well

BBC's very good. Especially the interactive channel but that sometimes doesn't work on my tv. It's not always the sport that you want. But they can't please everyone. Everytime they show swimming, tennis and gymanastics which I like someone else misses out on their faviourite sport.

In the Netherlands the olympic tournament is hardly mentioned. (there are no dutch competitors so the NOS is completely uninterested) i hope a Justine final will give the tournament some airtime.

US NBC coverage sucks!! They haven't shown a match worth watching since it's started. UGGGGHHHH> Today they showed Martina/Lisa vs Japan in doubles rather than showing us JUstine vs Pierce of Momo vs Kuznestova....

I like the coverage in the states. If you get a tivo you won't miss any tennis matches. I tivoed gymnastics and tennis and I have seen every match that has been shown. I just love it!! I do think the coverage is sporadic, and I hate the fact that they shift from one sport to the next right in the middle of a sport you like.

Not?  Can`t understand that... Let`s see, two points of Venus vs. Czink and Andy vs. Saretta, parts of Schüttler vs. Andreev, Federer vs. Davydenko, Massu vs. Kuerten and Andy vs. Haas. Put that together and I think they showed one complete match... :haha: :haha: :haha:

Oh, I hate German TV! :fiery: :fiery: :fiery:

It doesn't bother me so much that the NBC channels don't show that much tennis. And no matter what they did, they probably wouldn't show enough tennis for my liking.

I just hate being yanked around with the whole live vs. taped thing.

I'm satisfied with the coverage of CBC and TSN of events as it's ongoing.
BUT There's is hardly tennis. If there is highlights it's only two minute highlights.

The Olympics coverage in Canada is great, but for tennis!!

Got lots of options : CBC and Radio-Canada, TSN and RDS especially for team sports and live coverage (during hours people usually sleep at : 1.30 till 7 am) !!

Honestly i think Canada has some of the best coverage of the games in the world. THey try to show alot of sports and I'll admit they do show alot of rowing and swimmign but people do like to watch that so it is fair. WHen the track events start they will show those frequently as well. I like that 3 Canadian channels are covering the Olympics (CBC/SRC? which are government) and TSN. Comprehensive coverage and full events. Unfortunately tennis is not shown alot but I will give CBC credit for one thing. While they may not show the tennsi events they still let me know that Roddick and V. Williams were upset pretty soon after I turned on the TV on Wednesday so that was great.
