How Far Do U Think Serena Will Go @ This Year's US Open?

She said in her press conference where she withdrew from Athens, that she was more focused on this than anything else EVER!!!

Itīs all she has left now for this year...if her knee keeps up she should do fine. Has been very consistent this year with not one really bad loss, save of course the scorelines.

But she needs to watch some old tapes of 2002-2003 for her to win again.

I was hoping Vee would win Gold, and Serena win the Open. I hope it's an all-Williams final so both sisters can take the confidence from the Open. either way, it's all good as long as it's all Williams :)

if her knee is ok she should get to the semis, she isn't playing her best, but by all means she hasn't had a bad year, and this is SERENA we're talking about, so she could very well win this event, good luck Serena :bounce:

Personally speaking I believe Serena avoided Athens to prepare for the US Open. Her knee was bothering her just like Myskina's ribs were bother her.

She has gotten better results with each slam this year, who knows. I say she makes the finals.

To Be Honest, I really don't think she'll play at all

If she plays, and is healthy, I think she'll get to the final. I don't have the feeling she's match tough at this point, or really has yet grasped this concept or embraced it's value- before she was always so intimidating when she stepped out there, it was good enough for a few games and even a set against the top players. With the injuries, the improved competition, and the fact that she hasn't played alot of tennis this year- all coupled with this being hardcourt tennis at its worst- I'd be happy if she made it through 6 match wins and just started getting her form back. I'm not her though, and I doubt she would be satisfied with this- which is why she's my favorite player since Graf retired.

I kinda got the same feeling, she'll pull out at the last minute. If her knee is that bad for her to miss the olympics, can't see how its wise to play the Open. If she does play, I'm sure she'll make the QF at least...

she can at least get to the 3rd round, but i'll give her enough credit to be a 4th round contender at least. ;)

the thing about hte US Open is, you may have Venus find her form here, and she will be ranked low for the first time in a slam.

I think serena can still win this. a lot of peopel have written her off and not making her the favorite. but serena brings her A game, she is still the champ.

when you put everyone's A game up against eachother, serena comes out on top indefinetly.

God knows I wish she could play and the US Open will be shot to hell if she can't play, but I would rather my US Open be shot to hell than have Serena play on a bad knee. I personally don't think that much can change in two weeks if her knee was as serious as it seemed to be. But if she does play, I can't see her going out before the SF at least, because she still has her injury protect ranking for 1 more tournament which would justify the US Open officials giving her the #2 seed, and she should therefore get a good draw until at least the QF.
