Ok still have two questions 1. Lindsay two of three wins over the Williams sisters do count as official top ten wins even though they were not ranked in the top ten when Lindsay beat them? 2. Lindsay's Hopman Cup matches count in her official record for 2004, but the players she beat do not count as official wins?

1. That's why I put *s by those wins. I'm not quite sure how people wanted to count that. I'll put a parentheses to account for the "real" number of top 10 wins.

2. There has always been the debate on whether or not Hopman Cup (Fed Cup, too) should or shouldn't count. I guess the easiest way to do things is to only count events where ranking points are offered. I guess it varies from person to person.

So, after being out of action for 4 months (if you except 2 matches at RG), Justine is still leading that ranking :)

what about Zvonareva vs Sharapova in Montreal, I thought that was a good match. A lot more exciting than Dulko vs Dementieva. At least this was close and a come from behind victory. That doesn't count. And it was a mega upset for the crowd, also the first player to beat post wimbeldon sharapova that was ranked below her

But the World No. 1 has been out for awhile though...shouldn't she have a little more ;) I'm just teasing obviously the number of top 10 wins depends if you actually get to face top 10 players.

She has only one win in this list against a Top 5 player - and that was Capriati.

Just found out. The wins for Lindsay at the Hopman are included in her win/loss record for 2004, but the wins she actually had are not included in her head to head records.

Kind of an oymoron but I guess that's the way it is.

Yes. Other players who only have one win against a top 5 player this year: Mauresmo, Serena, Capriati, Sharapova. I'm not bothered about that at all.

Hopman Cup = glorified exhibition.

why are Lindsay's wins over the williams being tallied when they were not in the top ten???

The parentheses indicates the number with the Williams sisters not counting in the top 10. I wasn't quite sure how people wanted to count the Williams sisters so that's why they get the asterik.

even mensa members have debates and question all sorts of things.

You actually dont make sense.

Lindsay was a number 4 player and she plays Serena and Venus who are rank below her but seeded them above her beacuse of the protected ranking. You IDIOT!!!! In those tournament they were rank 1 or 2 thats because of the protected ranking, not protected seeding. OMG!!!! Why am I even bother to give u a response.
