Points for this year:

Serena 1995 (from 8 events)
Maria & Venus 1991 (both from 12 events)

Was amazed by this stat, I guess it is all down to previous years. By normal standards Maria is having an amazing year, while Venus and Serena are struggling, but interesting to see Venus and Maria are both doing much the same. Serena, by virtue of less tournaments, seems to be doing better!

Ooh, stats! They hurt my head!

For two people coming back from injury, they are having a somewhat good year. They both have won titles and tough they are out of the top ten, are still in the Champion's race.

Absolutely, Venus and Serena are having perhaps there worst season ever.

Serena has 1 title to her name, no grand slams and has lost to plaers she would not have lost to in previous years.

Venus has had trouble with injuries, lack of apparent motivation, and mental strength, her titles outnumber Serena yet she hasnt made it past the Quarters of the slams.

Serena has lost to Jennifer twice this year, and lets face it, Jen hasnt exactly played killer tennis herself...so that just shows you how far Serena has to go. Same with Venus.

And let's not forget their losses to Davenport, whom each of them owned for the last several years.

Serena's year has been alright. She won Miami, WImbledon Final, hasn't lost befroe the QF of any tournament shes entered that she didnt have to withdraw from due to injury.

Venus has had an OK year, she won 2 titles, but the early slam exits really stand out.

Maria has has a stellar year, winning a Grand Slam at 17.

By their standards, the sisters are down....only future is gonna show if Maria will ever reach their level. Although greatest ever....

Another stat:

Maria : 1 Grand Slam

Venus + Serena = 0

but NO!! I don't know if I would say that Maria's year is really really that great but i guess you just have to say that winning wimbledon constitutes a great year, especially when you are only 17.

Why do we always have to do this?

These three players are in completely different places in their respective careers.

Maria is having a great, great year for a young player on the rise.

Venus is currently struggling and relative to what she is capable of, her year hasn't been stellar. And I'm reluctant to chalk that up to injuries because she's been healthy for a lot of those loses.

Serena... hard to say. Usually serious knee surgeries take about a year to fully recover from physically and mentally.

But yet, Maria has a Slam. Last year, when Kim Clijsters had title after title and a ton of points but no Slam, I repeatedly heard that was all that mattered.

i think Maria is having a terrific year, not mant players win a grand slam at 17 let alone ever so she is having a steller year. Sadly the williams sisters are not having a good year by their standards hopefully they can finish off the year well and really do well next year. they bring so much to the Womens game, Attitude, Excitement. emotion and Fashion all things Justine doesnt bring, they are stars, she is just a tennis player.

I don't really care about points. Sharapova has the slam so she's had the better year. It's not even painful to say that because my favorites just haven't played well this year and Venus doesn't seem to mind all that much.

Neither sister is having a great year, but it's not a 'bad' year either. Just an "OK" year. And yes, both sister is having an ok year. The only "bad" loss Venus had was too Kuznetsova. All the others were pretty close. The last few matches Serena lost, she wasn't even in the match, like 1-6 sets.

I still think once they get their confidence back, they'll be back :)

Maria is indeed having a great year.

Venus & Serena have had an awful year.

Maria won a major, her year is ten times better.

Maria Great Year
Serena OK Year
Venus Bad Year

Serena is not having a bad year it is not like the results she had when she was dominating but too many quality results and not enough losses to bad players to call it a bad year.

Venus has not beaten a top ten player and is showing no consistency. We dont know all about lingering and new injuries so it may not be fair to say but so far this year has got to be considered bad for her.

Maria.... WOW!!!

Has Maria's year been good to me, a fan? No. That loss to Zvonareva really REALLY changed my mind. I mean, Maria's year w/o Wimbledon has barely been enough to stay in the top twenty. She should not lose to players like Zvonareva, Farina-Elia, or Myskina every single time. Oh and what the hell was w/ the Hantuchova loss at Tokyo?

yeah but she hasn't been past the quarter-finals of any other event:shrug: . A fortnight does not constitute a great year.

Like what Justine said, she is here to play tennis not do a movie.
i just dnt know why you had to be very specific about Juju, maybe ur a "h@#*r". :p

Anyway, since Venus and Serena has been up there in, so by their standard you can consider this season as a slump.
For Maria she has just breakthrough so this is a great season for her, but i think much greater seasons ahead for Masha.
