View Full Version : Why is there no faith in Chanda?

I just don't get it. I mean whenever Chanda plays a top player I always here the comments she's going to get smashed. For example during Chanda's run to the SF's in Miami vs. Mauresmo ('Mauresmo easily') and then vs. Henin-Hardenne ('Justine easily') and then at the end of the year Chanda vs. Mauresmo, oh Mauresmo easily blah blah. I mean it just seems like she never gets any credit.

well if they aren't from Russia...she has a Hellava Chance. But if they're from Russia, no faith.

alex why are you so obsessed with proving to people chanda will come back? very few people have had faith in chanda throughout her career but she has always proved them wrong.

it's just silly trying to convince people because you'll never change their minds

K. Chanda vs. Tatiana Panova. Chanda leads 7:0. Tatian = CHANDA'S BITCH. Viva! :rocker2:

Because people should learn. If Chanda does win tomorrow I will laugh in the Mauresmo thread.

they should but never do, and you trying to force it down their throats will only turn them against chanda more. last year when chanda was injured during the clay court season so many people were saying that she was finished and next year she would be ranked outside the top 30 - i disagreed with them but didn't go on and on about it because i knew chanda would prove it for me - and of course she did by winning madrid, making RG quarters, winning eastbourne. of course then she got injured again but she still made the YEC and should have made the semis if not for the mother of all chokes against dementieva.

all i'm going to say is that i find it much more effective to rely on chanda producing the results to shut them up than any argument i can come with up

The reason why people don't have faith in Rubin against Mauresmo is because Chanda hasn't been playing well since her comeback in May, and Mauresmo is having the best year of her carrer. It's that simple.

Chanda is definitely having one of her even numbered (crap) years. But she has a chance to quickly and definitively turn it around in this weak, yet important tournament.

chanda is probably the worst player amelie could run into at this point because she has a game that can take out anyone if it's firing. it hasn't fired yet since her comeback but i know it's just a matter of time until it does so amelie better hope it doesn't because i don't think she can beat chanda at her best. i really like amelie btw but as their H2H shows chanda's game works well against her

funny - my 2 favourites (patty and chanda) are both player amelie has problems with and patty won their last meeting 6-2, 6-2 and their 2nd last meeting chanda
6-0, 6-2.

Simply put, i personally dont respect Chandas game, i mean her game is ok, but he sots break down and shes too mentaly weak.

Sorry, nothing personal but i just think shes not really a very very great player, just average with a few above average shots.

its only my opinion however, she is a very accomplished doubles player, however...

I mean im a tennis player myself, ive played since the age of 5....

I see Chandas game and i know i could break down her shots...maybe thats just cause i think i can overpower her cause im a guy...however i see her shotmaking, im not impressed, alot of my friends hit through the ball with more power, and are able to to come up with better shots, and on a more regular basis, myself included.

Capriati, Davenport, Serena NOW those are girls id love to hit with!

Chanda is a very good player, but Amélie has played better this year. It is not some sort of anti-Chanda conspiracy. It's called logic.

And those "Whoever will win easily!"- those were UPSETS. Upsets are rarely proclaimed by a majority before they happened. What you're saying is like saying people disdain Karolina Sprem because they didn't think she'd beat Venus at Wimbledon and she did.

And I don't want to make excuses for my fave, but it's worth knowing when Chanda embarrassed her 6-0 6-2 she'd been on antibiotics for two weeks after a sinus infection, was too thin, and had an awful time against Marrero in the first round. Still a great win by Chanda, but it's unrealistic and unfair to them both to expect her to kick Amélie's ass like that again.

I just hope we have a good match and they both play their best. They're both terrific players.

yes your right, chanda doesn't have much game. it's not like she has beaten Capriati, Davenport, Serena - oh wait, she has!!

career high ranking of 6/ has made the top ten on 4 seperate occasions after falling down due to injury/has beaten almost everyone currently ranked in the top 20 that she has played. she definitely needs to accomplish more to be considered something other than a great doubles player.

btwchanda forehand is one of most powerful in the game - she hits through it just fine.

but you're entitled to your opinion even if it's wrong.

Back last year I always thought she was a danger against the top players. Even during the beginning of this year I thought she could cause trouble. But nowq she is just not the player she used to be. She is far, far behind the Chanda of 2003/early 2004, and Amelie is playing great tennis right now.

How many times has Chanda upset the top players? How many times has she lost to them? Also how good Chanda has been this year? How good Mauresmo has been?

Mauresmo is a huge favorite against Chanda tomorrow. Not that Chanda is not capable, but really will be an upset if Chanda beats Mauresmo tomorrow.

Chanda is not a consistent player, she can play great one week and really lose to anybody in the week after, no one knows which Chanda will show up. That is why people have more faith in Mauresmo for tomorrow.

she's played 4 tournaments since coming back. she's had 2 bad losses to an in form myskina in the 3rd round of 2 tier Is, lost to dementieva 7-5, 7-6 and had 5 or so set points in the second, and had her worse loss against bartoli (who is quite good) in her first match back at wimbledon.

i'll freely admit that she isn't playing to her normal level, but let's not forget that last year she got injured and missed about 8 weeks - came back and lost badly to loit and serna in berlin and rome - then went onto win madrid, make the RG quarters, win eastbourne.....well i'm repeating myself.

zhoa is right - let's just wait and see what happens. i am far from certain that she will beat amelie, but i have complete faith she will be back and prove her doubters wrong.
