Good for Eleni, bad for Myskina.

Must have been a hell of a match...

So probably late night-match tomorrow, good for both players since eleni had to fought hard against Maggie having played 2,5 hours and Myskina had two tough three setters today, should be a good match-up tomorrow.

great fighting spirit from eleni  :worship:

she got cramps at 4-2 and stayed on the ground for about 5 minutes .. she couldn't move at all! it was looking really bad ( remember the anna smashnova incident at Roland Garros )

eleni was in tears and everyone thought it was over
but she kept on fighting and broke maggie again to win that last game

i don't think she will play tomorrow but who knows?

anna got cramps in fact her whole body was in pain at the start of the third set against elena dementieva... she was in agony!

the difference is that eleni managed to continue :D

if they were playing anywhere else she would have retired

Yep, the france incident was awful, I couldn´t even watched it. I just saw some pics of Eleni, lying down on the court with two physios helping her, it´s incredible that she won that match. Amazing.

I hope she´s ok tomorrow and is in full shape again, she deserved it (though I want her opponent to win).

No, Smashnova was up a set and like 4-1 or 4-2 against Dementieva, just cruising, when the cramps came. Mauresmo or Suarez or even LD could have made the RG finals had Anna not collapsed.

That Pistolesi/cramps incident was nasty indeed :sad: I'm really glad that Eleni pulled this out as well because the pics of her laid out on the court didn't look good ....but she was looking great in that blue outfit with the matching shoes :p

We feel sorry for her and you noticed her fashionable matching shoes :D ...gotta say, yeah, I´ve noticed it too, this blue colour is nice, Adidas should have that as a regular outfit, it´s better than this light weird not blue/not-green colour!

Poor Eleni! I'm so happy for her that she won, but this final pic doesn't look too good for the remainder of the Olympic Games.... Wish I'd seen the match, it must have been so exciting!! :D Well played Eleni :bigclap:, and please get well soon for your match against Anastasia...

I saw the match too, it was an incredible drama. At 4-2 30-40 serving,Eleni get an acute cramp in her left hip, she fell on the baseline, she wasn't able to move and it was necessary the trainer to give her help there. Her face was so painful and it seemed she couldn't continue but she did. Mggie broke here and held to level 4-4, but Danilidou held too and at 5-4* 40-30 she had another MP, tried a winner but it was out and she fell in cramp again. The trainer came again but Eleni hadn't right of another break and the umpire warned her but didnt judge a point to Maggie. Showing indescribable pain on her face Eleni got up and in long rallies won the next 2 points and fell again. The public was in extasies.
Nastya should win that match tomorrow especially if Danilidou doesn't recover quickly, but there is a factor in her disadvantage and if the match is close it may be decisive - the crowd. The crowd is much worse than RG - they clap loudly opponent's DF and they boo linesmen for every decision not in their favour

this is either really good or really bad news for myskina I agree. If Eleni can recover and play like she did today, Myskina could be in for some serious trouble. If she's not doing well with the cramps, Myskina could just go on easily or not even play at all.

Yeah...it´s weird. Normally I would say Nastya definetly in two since she has won all their previous three meetings and I can´t imagine that Eleni will be 100 % fit tomorrow, but on the other side, Nastya played for like four and a half hours today, she had a bad close three sets win against Brandi and apparently she just sucked today and just like someone mentioned already, the crowd will be mainly behind their countrywoman and try to mentally kill Nasyta...it will be a great atmosphere, that´s for sure, like Fed Cup but with viewers who probably mainly used to watch football and other loud sports (no offense).

I wished I could be on that centre court tomorrow with all my three fave players playing on the same court consecutively... :hearts: what a line-up.

I don't know exactly the rules, I think the first warning may be unofficial - without a penalty point, every next should be penalized, but sometimes I have seen a penalty point with the first warning

I know but, well, that´s just the way it is. She´s a pro and has to get through this, the more famous she becomes, the worse it will get...she should talk to Justine, Martina H. and Serena about this  ...and we all know how shaky Nastya is when she has to serve for the second time, I am interested to see how she will react to it.

Yes, she had to win she played flawless tennis in the first set, but then Eleni started playing better, the crowd roaring and Maggie lost her confidence and aggressiveness. She was to pasive in the end when Eleni was hardly moving

I didn't mean Nastya can't handle the pressure. If she was in full condition I wouldn't have worried. But now she is too unsteady wit her tiredness, injuries and GQ story and every additional factor like the crowd may be too much for her
