Amelie has just crushed Camerin of Italy 6-0 6-1 in just over 50 mins. Amelie hammered down 8 aces in the match!!   Looks like Chanda really has her work cut out for her tomorrow but Chanda has won their last 2 encounters, most famously at the WTA Championships last November where she beat Amelie in a tight three-setter. So, who do you think is gonna win this match tomorrow, I'd give the edge to Chanda coz I think out of the current top 10 players, she just about has the confidence to beat Amelie. :) :bounce: Good luck tomorrow Chanda!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Amelie in 2. Something like 6-2 6-1. The Chanda of the 2003 YEC is leagues ahead of the Chanda of now.

Of course I want Chanda to win, but I think Amelie will win this one easily, mainly becasue Chanda's serve is suspect.

Chanda always beats Mauresmo and Mauresmo can't take advantage of openings in draws...Chanda will win...

As much as I like both players, I think this match is in Momo's hand. She's hardly chokes anymore lately. I would say Momo in 2 sets. Something like 6-2 6-4. But come on Rubin, prove me something.

Realistically guys, Momo has been red hot lately ;)

Momo was rusty a few weeks ago, but she seemed to wash that rust out in Canada as the tournament progressed. Now she is playing really good tennis. Chanda is awesome, but she is still not in her greatest form. Momo in two.

Not really. Momo is a very different player than Venus. The problem is that usually when Chanda is playing well she is the attacker and charges the net. I think that works well when you are playing someone who likes to be in control--you are putting pressure on them. But Momo has so much touch and will be able to come out with those passing shots from nowhere. This will be a tough match for Chanda...one I doubt she can win.

Lets not forget that Amelie had also just destroyed Elena before her loss to Chanda and had also won a title over some good players the week before Chanda had beaten her. Let's also not forget Chanda leads their head-to-head 3-1. I'm going to say Chanda in 3 or 2, it doesn't matter, Chanda's going to win.

 didn't actually know that Chanda lead their head-to-head 3-1  and the time that Amelie did beat her was in a tough match at the US Open 3rd round in 2001, where she squeezed through 7-5 7-5. :)

Also let's not forget Chanda was vomitting on court at the US Open when she lost her first ever match to Amelie in 2001.

No, trust me. I was there. In the stadium. Believe me, I would've remembered Chanda throwing up during her match with Momo :p

I did witness Chanda getting sick on court during her first round match. It was as hot as hell - there were a lot of players not feeling too well that day.

Amelie has the better record for the year by far, but Chanda has the head to head. The speeed of surface is an ad to Chanda because of Amelie's long windups. Amelie has a better serve and backhand. The forehand duel will favor Chanda because she can hit thru it with better penetration. That said, its almost a toss up. UFE's may decide the winner. I'll go with Chanda in three tough ones. Good luck to both.

My heart says Chanda but my mind says Amelie.

I'm pulling for Chanda to make it to the SF hopefully & at least get the bronze.

Amelie in 2 or Chanda in 3 (I think if Chanda can hang in there early perhaps Mauresmo will begin to feel the pressure)

A bad matchup for Amelie, but I expect her to win this time. She's in better form than Chanda.

Momo in two. She's on fire and on a roll, and Chanda is not the same player as she was last year.
Easy win for Momo.

Well this is a tough one....Chanda has the H2H advantage and she was able to win Momo on this particular surface a couple of times although in both times she was ranked lower.....However, Amelie is a very patriotic player and she tends to prevail very well when playing for her country outside her country, she has the confidence, The need for this victory for France and the chance for personal Glory, getting points in her quest for being the first french man or woman to ever being Ranked first in the world, she has an all around court better game than Chanda and she seems physically stronger-however, i will not say anything about emotional fragility.....she is pretty fresh having won very easy yesterday....so i'll say Mauresmo will take this one in 2, she will cruise in the first set and fight off a tie break in the 2nd, Momo 6/2 7/6....

First of all everytime Chanda has beaten her its been out of France. Second of all if Mauresmo had beaten Chanda wouldn't that have boosted her close to No.1? I'm sick of these lame excuses, when someone can come up with a good reason then I'll accept it.

No one is giving anyone excuses, it is just a matter of opinion and preference, I personally believe in Luck and i think Amelie is a great player, but is just so unlucky....but then as one might say we make our luck.....
