how the hell did dementieva reach a slam finalSharapovaKixA$$ Aug 16th, 2004, 06:31 PM she has to be one of the worst players in the world :tape: Foot_Fault Aug 16th, 2004, 06:33 PM Uh-oh...you're in for a Tougne Lashing GoldenSlam Aug 16th, 2004, 06:33 PM Incorrect, other than Amelie and Kim, she is the best active player without winning a slam. It might be confusing to see Russians doing so well on clay, but clay is where the power of the sisters is absorbed. You are wrong to count her out. With a serve, she can win a lot more. buscemi Aug 16th, 2004, 06:34 PM 1. It was on clay, where her serve hurts her the least. 2. Her 1st 2 opponents were terrible. 3. Smashnova was crushing her in round 3 before getting hurt. 4. Davenport (R16 opponent) never plays well on clay and was not 100%. 5. Mauresmo (QF opponent) always chokes. 6. Suarez choked even more than Mauresmo in the SF. Spunky83 Aug 16th, 2004, 06:34 PM How the hell could Sharapova win Wimbledon? The easy answer is that both, Elena and Masha had two really good weeks, are both brilliant players and in those two weeks only one person was better and in Masha´s case she was the top player of those two weeks...that´s it. It´s such a pity you have disabled reputation, I can´t imagine why you did that in the first place... Could someone please delete this thread? I love Mary Aug 16th, 2004, 06:36 PM Don't forget that the Beauty reached the final in Miami this year. Mase Aug 16th, 2004, 06:36 PM 1. It was on clay, where her serve hurts her the least. 2. This does about sum it up though. buscemi Aug 16th, 2004, 06:38 PM And I don't want to diminish what Dementieva did. They say luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Sure, she didn't play the greatest clay court, Grand Slam opponents. But she did beat them all, which doesn't always happen when a player gets easy draws. GoldenSlam Aug 16th, 2004, 06:39 PM Don't forget that the Beauty reached the final in Miami this year. Beating #2 in the world Venus on her way to the final too. hablo Aug 16th, 2004, 06:51 PM she has to be one of the worst players in the world :tape: Such insightful and constructive comments!! Wow!! :tape: What does it say about all the opponents she beat to get to the final??!!   goldenlox Aug 16th, 2004, 06:53 PM Dementieva is #6 in the world. She also reached the Key Biscayne final. And made the semis in San Diego and L.A. faboozadoo15 Aug 16th, 2004, 06:55 PM simply, dementieva has some of the best groundstrokes in tennis and fights very hard for all the points. SharapovaKixA$$ Aug 16th, 2004, 06:57 PM sorry for this thread, shes not a bad player but she loses to worse players and she cant serve -Em- Aug 16th, 2004, 06:57 PM she has to be one of the worst players in the world :tape: Oh yeah, and that's why she's #6 in the world...becoz she's one of the worst players  Andrew. Aug 16th, 2004, 06:58 PM Her groundstrokes are killer. azza Aug 16th, 2004, 07:00 PM Don't forget that the Beauty reached the final in Miami this year. Pratt didnt reach the final !<blocparty>! Aug 16th, 2004, 07:00 PM She did get a bit of luck reaching that slam final, but she does have some of the best groundies the world has ever seen ;) SharapovaKixA$$ (http://www.wtaworld.com/member.php?u=29043) vbmenu_register("postmenu_3992635", true); - One of the worst players in the world? :retard: Where is Sharapova ranked again? justine&coria Aug 16th, 2004, 07:01 PM If you watched her match against Mauresmo at RG you would know why !! SharapovaKixA$$ Aug 16th, 2004, 07:02 PM sharapova is way younger you, and at least she has a slam Mathijs Aug 16th, 2004, 07:04 PM she has to be one of the worst players in the world :tape:how the hell did you come up with such a thread you idiot! :fiery: buscemi Aug 16th, 2004, 07:05 PM In all honesty, though, I might have to say that her run to the finals was just about the most surprising such run that I can remember. What was she?...6-5 at the French before this year, losing in the 1st round last year? And then she came into the French, having gone 2-4 in French Open warm-ups. the cat Aug 16th, 2004, 07:10 PM If Elena ever rebuilds her serve and makes it on a par with the rest of her game she will be in another slam final or two. But right now Elena is so beaten down psychologically by all the questions about her serve that it's negatively affecting her normally vibrant game. We all know how devastated she was after her play in the French Open final. :( But this was even worse because it's the Olympics and Elena lost in the first round and not the final. And the Olympics was her top priority for this year so Elena is probably even more devastated than when she lost meekly in the French Open final. Spunky83 Aug 16th, 2004, 07:13 PM sharapova is way younger you, and at least she has a slam Uhhh...now u made the Momo & Kim fans really angry...both are so old and haven´t won a GS so far, shoot. Are you younger than Maria? If so, I allow you to say something like that, cause wisdom comes with age. Her forehand and her backhand got her to the FO Final. pav Aug 16th, 2004, 07:49 PM This Russian soap opera's starting to smolder did the Poles get from Nastya a cold or sore shoulder was She in pain and have sore ribs or was it just Olympic driven fibs? We may know before We get a whole lot older Then how about that well known Russian blonde raver? the always elegant Elena Dementieva forever good for a photo perve but where the hell's Her serve? when Molik's game is on song and Her serve is just so strong Elena can't rely on Her great ground strokes to save Her We move on now to young Sveta and Petrova both have Their first round matches won and over They seemed to have played good like We all knew They could if they keep Their feet down on the pedals They might all end up with medals but let's face it Their results they can be scatty if this rocky Russian road dosn't drive You to ova load There is Bepa to support in Cincinnati! Geisha Aug 16th, 2004, 07:59 PM Oh come on now! If you watch Elena at the top of her game, she plays some amazing tennis! She has some great angles and uses her power and finesse AND fitness to her utmost advantage! | |
