I was there for part of the day today...saw the end of Anna-Lena's match, she simply overpowered Okamoto and there was nothing she could do about it. Marie-Eve's match obviously wasn't the best, she had all sorts of chances in the first set but blew them all with bad errors, she cleaned it up midway through the second set and was playing well but it was too little too late. From what I saw, Lee-Waters/Voskoboeva was pretty entertaining, lots of hard-hitting rallies with good finishes at the net, lots of grunting and screaming as well ;) Last match I saw was the first set of Jidkova/Peng, lots of good rallies, Jidkova has a lot of variety and Peng can really smack the ball. I think we'll see more of her in the future. I'm disappointed I didn't get to see Karatancheva or Vaidisova play this week..oh well.
I like this tournament..it's pretty relaxed, and you can meet pretty much any of the players you want.
Anyways...looking forward to rated_next's report for someone else's view and to hear about the other matches. :)

Groenefeld d. Okamoto 60 61
I agree with Mitch01. I don't think Seiko has ever played against a player who serves and hits the ball as hard as Anna-Lena does. Seiko was just blown off the court. Anna-Lena has improved from last year as well. She doesn't go all out with every shot anymore. She's got a larger margin of error now in each of her shots. Sesil's got a tough opponent tonight.
Castellvi d. Pelletier 60 64 :)
I was probably the only person voting for Vilmarie. ;) She is so quick and so consistent that Marie-Eve had troubles hitting winners since Castellvi got every ball back. Marie-Eve, obviously, didn't play well, but I think Vilmarie's consistency had something to do about it. After talking to Laura's dad, he said that Vilmarie trains so hard and wants to do really well on the tour.
The seeded players have been doing really so far.
Lee-Waters d. Voskoboeva 64 76
This was a hard-hitting match. I only caught the last few games but Lindsay was once again hitting a lot of winners. Galina needs to work on her movement a bit, and then she will be very good as well. I talked to Lindsay's grandfather and I saw Lindsay's daughter as well. :)
Granville d. Mattek 63 76
Bethanie has a lot of potential. She's got all all-court game. Unfortunately for her last night, she made more errors than usual. The match was very close, but Laura won the key games and was a bit more consistent than Bethanie.
Jidkova d. Peng 75 75
I agree with Mitch01 as well. Jidkova has got a lot of variety, and Shuai is really strong. Shuai got a few bad calls at the end of the 1st set which lost her the set, but she fought back nicely to lead in the 2nd set and had a set point, but lost it, and lost easily after that.
Grande d. Hopkins 62 62 :)
Jennifer made too many errors in this match, though I'm sure Rita forced a lot of them. Grande is playing really well. She is hitting moonballs and slow-paced balls with her forehand, and beautiful slices with her backhand. Her serve has been impressive as well. Good luck tomorrow :)
