We can pray and hope, I think it'll work again, but given the efficiency of the people at the WTA...

A friend of mine called the WTA address site that they have on the Sanex board (I think in FL)and the guy told said something about the Host Company hasn't given them what they need for their (SANEX WTA) website. I don't know much about websites and didn't talk to anyone on phone so I really don't know for sure. I don't think it has anything to do with SANEX just more so the host company. Also he said that they were really going to try to get it up before the Australian Open. This is all second hand info so don't take this is the exact truth.

thanks William Rules . I got a reply on October saying that its still fixing but now ... This board is a wonderful but I still want to give a look at some old threads there ..

OMG Dawn, I thought Anne was kidding when she said we should count ourselves lucky if the borad is up by the Austrialian Open. Looks like she wasn't...

thanks dawn and Williams, I think these WTA people are lying
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:08 AM
I felt that it was SANEX'S problem too, but after my friend confirmed what the guy said on the phone I believe now that it is the HOST Company. I was so going to post a topic about this too. It's not the WTA's fault but the host company. That is why we can still browse the front page of the Sanex site. The message board (I THINK) is not run by the same host company. I hope this helps people.

WTA is also responsible for this, why they don't fire this useless host company and hire annother

Why do I get this feeling that the WTA is just finding excuses...

me also, but I think at least they should restore the chat room
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:22 AM
Well I think and I say that because when I was told of the phone conversation I was (half listening)as I was kinda busy.. anyway I think the hold up is because the Host Company won't give them what they need to continue with the message board website. What they need is what is over my head in computer knowledge. I am assuming it is files/data necessary info that they need to start a message board. The WTA has nothing to do with the message board because the Host company was the one running that site. I guess the Sanex just let them use their address. But like I said I am not 100% sure but this does make more sense in why it isn't up.
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:28 AM
What Poe said makes sense and is along the same lines as what my friend said the phone call was about.
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:35 AM
I still don't understand fully with my poor computer concept but thanks Poe anyway . No, I don't want to re-start again, I want to look at the old threads
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:37 AM
OMG... lost!!! What about those 1000+ posts threads that we had there... It was so much fun.
But I guess you are right Poe, if they had managed to recover those threads, they would have set the board up sooner. Pffft @ them... How could they do this to us
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:39 AM
Poeglet, you are probably right..it's all a matter of money. The WTA doesn't earn a penny on that board..they have to put lots and lots of money in a messageboard.
The ubb-licence seems to cost lots of money (didn't know that, but Poe did of course), and the server, and hosting will cost lots too I think. Especially because they get so many hits.
On the other hand, they had thousands of members. They can't let them all down..that's not really good for their image isn't?
So I expect it to come back, probably with cheaper software, what means more problems en less user-comfort.
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:40 AM
Who hosts the WTA website, Poe? Don't they do that themself?
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:45 AM
Poe, why don't you apply for the job as the webmaster? This way, we'll have a well run board at the WTA ... hopefully they'll give you decent pay
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:48 AM
That'll be equally good But you'll have to pay for all the licensing and stuff...
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:52 AM
Ok now I am baffled again.
If indeed the Sanex board knows that they will have to start over and that they may not retrieve old files.. then what are they waiting on? It's been 3 months already?? It just seems that something else is up? Can the old host company have info or files necessary for Sanex to hire or set up another web-site? Imho Sanex/tennis is getting HUGE. It seems that if they do another board that it should be the BOMB! and user friendly for the crazy fans.
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:55 AM
Why don't we all send an email (one per member) to the Sanex WTA Tour saying that WTAWorld is an extremely well run board and we are fed up to wait.
Besides, some have already over thousands of messages (and others are just trying to keep up ).
Some lobbying might be helping Poe to get what he wants... and deserves!

I honestly don't want this board to become the official WTA-board. It means we would get loads and loads of members, the board would get slower and slower, and there will be lots of troubles. And I don't think Poe can keep up with it, I think he has already lots of work with this board.
Dec 12th, 2001, 10:38 AM
I can tell you that Sanex is waiting for a completion of tests on software, that will make it the most innovative and secure message board on the net. Not only will it be able to come through the screen and slap you in the face for being a bitch, it will also offer the nicest posters Blow jobs by the person their choice. After it will give you a choice of a fine white wine or a delicate coffee. The stunning thing is there will be a smoking and non-smoking version. Those who choose the Smoking version must take out Health Insurance, but to be seen as fair, those who accept the non-smoking version will be forced to eat copulous amounts of chocolate, causing obesity, then denying them any health insurance as a pay back for not smoking
Dec 12th, 2001, 10:39 AM
lol..Adrian!!!!!! You're dreaming boy! You only want such a board for the Blow jobs isn't?? lol
Dec 12th, 2001, 11:11 AM
I hate that Sanex Board. I'll never go back there.
Dec 12th, 2001, 11:37 AM
Jomar, you only feel that way because it was hijacked and manipulated by a sick unit of tennis fans and had an administrator that had no idea on how to control things except to bow down to pressure by those same unit of people. I have a strange feeling that it will never happen again.. (using my innotive software of course )

I guess if the files are lost it really doesn't matter. I truly enjoy this board just as much, but the thing with the old board is that we had ALL of those posts and discussions for at least 2 years old.....and it is truly disappointing to see that they have disappeared.
Another thought, if the WTA only knew how many fanatics were created through the message board, who in turn, buy tickets to tournaments, watch matches on TV, buy sponsor stuff, etc. the license fees would be ENOUGH to cover a decent website. I, for one, am a bigger tennis fan because of that website, and I know that just as one person, I have probably contributed about $100 in stuff that would aid the tour. Now, multiply that times 100 other members who are similar to that, and that is $10,000. See....you MAKE money by spending it.
PS - Poe, the WTA should bow down to you for giving us fanatics a place to relish. If there had been no board, my level of interest would have zipped back to Venus and Serena only and not about any other players. But because here, I can talk about the lesser-known players and learn more things about them, the more of a fan I become, so thank you!

1. Sanex Board was getting out of hand
2. They had a technical problem and used it as an excuse to shut he place down
3. The fact that they deleted the link to the board in the homepage is significant
4. They DO know this board is alive and kicking so nobody is complaining
5. They are happy like this
6. We are happy like this
Dec 12th, 2001, 02:43 PM
I agree with VSFan1 aka Joshua L.. If not for the board, my interest in tennis would never be as insanely high as it is
Dec 12th, 2001, 02:55 PM
I agree too Williams_Rulez.
I emailed Anne last week, and she didn't know any more than we do
WTA are trying to get their files back...
From what I hear here I doubt if it will ever return, but I sure hope so!

Dec 12th, 2001, 03:37 PM
I much prefer this board, but I'd really like to get some of the long threads from the other board back.
Dec 12th, 2001, 03:38 PM
Even if the WTA gets their message board back functioning, I think I'll stick with WTAWORLD, lets face it the WTA is a million dollar corporation and if they truly gave a damn about the fans of the WTA they would have had their board fixed within a week. The only thing that they have given us is excuses. We're not talking about some out of the garage type organization but one that sponsors events around the world and they can't keep their message board functioning. It's no wonder the ATP tour is so much more successful and better run than the WTA.
Dec 12th, 2001, 03:39 PM
I was so upset when the Sanex Board went down. I enjoyed it so much. When I found this board, I begrudgingly joined.
Now, I really like this board a lot. I don't miss the old threads on the Sanex Board. It is some of the Sanex posters I miss.
Dec 12th, 2001, 03:43 PM
If I'm not mistaken, there's a way to access the old threads on the Sanex Board. I don't know how to do it, but a couple of threads came out on this board about it. I think it was around Sep 2001 that the thread appeared on this board.
Dec 12th, 2001, 05:35 PM
First, I don't believe that files could be lost.. Any decent hosting company runs at least weekly backups, so that should not be a problem.
Second, while a lot of what Poe says makes sense, I think that the biggest problem could be that they no longer have a person who would be able to do that. That person should have known how it works technically. Anne Bonney was just an administrator, she didn't seem to know how to handle even simplest technical issues. Nor she seemed to have an access to actual database. I remember that 6 monthes ago I changed my ISP. my email address has changed correspondingly. I changed it in my profile, UBB system in this case ( change of email ) enforces a confirmation process with sending a newly generated password in a email message to that new email address. The email message had source address of Anne, her email@example.com address. As it happened, my ISP blocks any email message whose source address is not related to domain address of the server ( i.e. altavista.net has nothing to do with mb.sanexwta.com ). As a result my account has been lost, because I could not get a password. I asked Anne to give me that password manually, or manually change an email address in my profile. She could not do that. I had to become ys_second.. So I think, that they don't have a person to take proper care of old information.
And third, I can imagine WTA keeping on going without Discussion Forums, or making some crap ATP-like forums that no one wants to use. There is a huge difference between creating a forums and creating a good community site that feels like home . I think Sanex Boards, the way they were, are gone for good.
Dec 12th, 2001, 08:49 PM
I agree with Poe on this one. But what I can't understand is what is SANEX waiting on now?? Okay so we lost all files.. IMHO I would rather have the board back up before OZ 2002 and start a fresh new year then keep waiting on some stupid Host company too get their shit together!
P.S. that board was getting out of hand though and maybe this was a reason for the shut-down.
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:34 PM
I would also prefer this board, I would think this one has more threads thatn the other one and its more calm in here!
Dec 12th, 2001, 09:35 PM
The old threads would be the only reason I would want to return to the old Sanex Board. From the very beginning, I learned more information about the tour from the posters than the actual board itself.
It wasn't just the message board that was corrupt. The news was often late and un-updated. The site was limp and stale. It hardly ever posted the interviews that CnnSI or yahoo sports had which amazed me because that site should have had access to them if anybody did. If it weren't for the cool pics of the top ten women, the site would have been useless.
