I've checked the latest odds for the US Open and Lindsay is the 2nd favourite! Serena is favourite, Justine Henin 3rd,Venus 4th and Maria Sharapova 5th. Realistically the winner will be one of them. My own rankings would be Lindsay at 1, Venus at 2 and Serena at 3. It would be an amazing feat for either Justine or Maria to win and I just cannot see past an American winner. Lindsay is the best hardcourt player in the world and should win regardless of her opponents injuries or form. Let them do the worrying for once, they have a hell of lot to be worried about.

Yo, can i join? LD is awesome and I'm hoping she can take the US Open this year, she has a super chance for it.
New Haven should be dominated by her, she'll most def. win this.

I want a Sharapova rematch too. Linds will win if they do play, I am sure. Linds should get to the final :)

Andrew.
Aug 21st, 2004, 11:20 PM
Yes, Lindsay would attack Sharapova's game on a hardcourt. She could probably win 6-2 6-3-ish if she's at her best.

So Davenport has never won in New Haven despite many many finals and semis, right? This is her year to change that.

Come on, Linds! Beat The Serve, The Drama Queen (in a good way, of course ;)), and The Hyped One to win your very first Pilot Pen!

Okay what I'm going to say will sound very negative but it isn't meant to be.

I'd love to see Lindsay win NH, according to WTA Tour she won it in 1997...

At the same time if she doesn't win it, for me, it won't be a huge disappointment, because not only would it mean she wouldn't have as much pressure on her shoulders going into the US Open, she'd be repeating the same path as 1998.

In any case, chookas to Lindsay!

Do you think she is just resting for the US Open or does she really have tendinitis in her wrist!? ITV Teletext says she is struggling to be fit for the US Open. I hope they are just being meladromatic (spelt wrongly I think!) LOL. I myself think it is a smart move!

She is seeded 5 for the US Open as I imagined she would be. The draw comes out today I understand:wavey:

Now Maria's lost at New Haven, Lindsay SO would have won. Oh well, she'll rock at the Open.
