I am new to this forum, and I am shocked. So many of the posts are rude, disrespectful, and downright disgusting. I cannot believe that people cannot politely disagree about favorite players and tennis matches. Not to be sanctimonious, but the venom displayed in some of these threads is emblematic of the greater problems that our World suffers from. I would like to propose a little more civility, and a little less evil. :)

Different people have different ways to express their feelings. Level of education, age, background, lifestyle - all contribute to that. Best you can do is ignore posts that offend you. Worst - get into war of words with offenders (in this case you basically acknowledge their tactics as legit).

There is no censorship here, boards like this are pretty much self-regulated. I would say the overall level of posts on this board is much higher than, for example, in some hockey-related boards.

you need to take your dumb ass to the library and study harder instead of draining your parents pockets from all those finances they have been paying toward your education......and you have been bringing home F's.

Straight F's at that.

There is an icon to the left of the page. the warning sign, that you can use to complain about particularly offensive posts.

Posts critical of players are legitimate in my opinion if based on facts and argued civilly and without malice. However some posters, two of whom are here, seem to revel in abusing players, and wishing them ill, which I do not believe has any place on a tennis forum.

Why do I sound like my name is Emma Catherine? Is it because I can articulate a coherent thought? Is it a lack of slang in my posts? Whatever the reason, you don't know anything about me. Oh, and thanks for the welcome. For a twelve year old you are very polite. ;)

Ballbuster has decided to enable his rep thingies, to show the line of red dots :p

Well, WTAworld is a bitchy place, there is fighting and argueing, but whats wrong with that? Not everyone gets along.

If you ask me, its better having arguements on the net than in real life. e.g - football hooliganism. You dont see any of that shit at wimbledon :p

welcome kabuki!

yes, it does get a little depressing to see so much immaturity and ignorance here. but i dont think it accurately reflects on our world as a whole.

sometimes it's fun to sink down to their level for a few minutes and argue with them. the difference is i KNOW i am better than that the rest of the day.

but dont feel discouraged. there are plenty of cool people here. and, i've actually witnessed growth and maturity in some of the posters here...so all is not lost. do speak up when you feel you have the right thing to say--maybe it'll illuminate one of them poor souls, you never know. :)

I used to say the same thing. Then i realized i enjoyed arguing and fighting. it makes things interesting. So I am sure if you stick around, you will get used to it, and then if it gets too quiet, you will miss a good argument.

i agree. but i think kabuki probably means he objects to the nastiness and unecessary name calling that goes on, and not argument itself.

good debate and respectful arguments are healthy, and gives our brains a workout, i think. however, too many people dont have enough knowledge up there or they run out of arguments and so they resort to cheap shots. i just laugh when that happens. (and then they give YOU a negative rep!!:haha: )

Yes, Kabuki, you are correct. Many of the posts are downright rude and disgusting. Then again, take a look at the number of posts many people have. Literally, in the thousands. It seems that many 'posters' seem to have nothing better to do then spend hours on end posting nonsense in order to compete with others for the mosts 'posts'. There are other tennis chat rooms available where you can have intelligent chats with other tennis enthusiasts without all the nonsense.

Only joking Kabuki!

It does help too if you have a developed sense of humour, which unfortunately is sadly lacking in some fan bases. Most Kim fans have a highly developed SoH because they need it to get them through the days and months that must ensue before Kimmy finally wins a slam (because Kim is the "great slamless wonder" but we still lover her anyway). ;)
