View Full Version : Myskina is being robbed

The american hardcourt season is a joke. Everything is set up so americans win these tournaments. Last year's US open was flagrant, but the organizers failed to produce an american winner :o

I don't know why they let foreign people participate. Hideous calls, indecent schedulling... I don't know why these organizers think the crowds are happier if an american wins 6-1 6-1, than if we had a great match

Davenport served an ace that was out by 3 inches :o

Myskina would have lost if Davenport had to hit every single shot more than three inches inside the baseline. Lindsay is just better on any surface but clay.

No, the fact is that American women cheat. They complain about every shot that their opponent makes trying to throw off their groove. The same thing happened with Dememtieva, so there's no point in any foreigners can win.

Also, if American women are so damn good as you say they are, what American woman has won the last 3 grand slams? None, and they won't. So maybe you should get your facts straight before you go on saying this crap.

I didn't start this thread just because of this match. This happens EVERY TIME. Today was Myskina, yesterday it was Dementieva... last year's Open had the americans resting and the belgians doing the night matches... I remember a match between Venus and MAuresmo in 2002, semis of the Open, where Momo was plain robbed! Some of the calls were just incredible

Sorry people, I like Lidnsay a lot and everyone else, but I also like having all the players in the same conditions, and that doesn't happen in the states

They cheat do they? Then why has shotspot agreed w/ Davenport's complaints all week long? Hmm? Oh that is right, because Davenport is in the zone, willing, and able to hit every single shot on one or two lines. Regardless, it isn't cheating to complain about a call. That isn't cheating at all. But you're to Anti-American to see that. Have a nice day living in the shadow:wavey: .

Horrible thread.

First of all, that was one bad line call. It happens. By the score, I don't think that one point changed the match in any way. :p And about yesterday, both players were robbed at times on big points. Dementieva said that after her loss.

As for the scheduling, it made sense that Myskina/Zvonareva be the night match considering that Myskina played her quarterfinal as the night match the day before. Just like last week in LA, Serena, an American ;), who won her quarterfinal at night over Zvonareva, had her semifinal scheduled as the night match a day later; thus, she had to deal with the quick turn-around for the final. But if her semifinal was scheduled as the day match last week, she would have had a quick turn-around from quarterfinals to semifinals, just like Myskina would have been faced with this week.

Exactly, Lindsay always plays well in her home state, Justine and Kim did gate crash her party last year, but seems to be a few players are still recovering from the european season and notably players like Venus, Mysinka and Elena D who lost early at Wimbledon have done not bad so far.

anyways... i'm not taking anything away from lindsay.. i feel she is playing the best tennis in the world right now. not the united states, but lindsay. serena is obviously still a threat (when healthy), but all in all, it's the russians that are dominating the tournaments.....

and also....
(i don't feel like retyping so i'll repost this... )
if you saw the match it was quite obvious that nastya just couldn't compete at a high level today. she was always hitting the top of the net, a sign of fatigue, she wasn't bending her knees, she wasn't moving as well...... the girl had just been through a hell match the night before and had a hard time just coming down from such a high intensity. supposedly she received a massage after the match to try to loosen herself up after the match, but that didn't even do the trick. that is why she went to watch zvonareva in the doubles match, to try to take her mind off things and calm down... it was only after the doubles match that she was relaxed enough to even think about going to sleep. playing a fellow russian in a 2 hr. 45 minute match that goes to a 17-15 tiebreaker to decide the outcome about 14 hours before a final against a player in form like davenport is a near impossible task. you could see nastya try her best and she was trying to get motivated, but her body (and mind) just wouldn't let it happen...
also, i know she was beaten in a one-sided 6-1 6-1, but it wasn't as lopsided as it looked... myskina had break points on davenport's first 3 service games and, thanks to davenport's huge aces, all went to deuces... she did what she could but unfortunately her body wasn't ready for that match yet....
give the girl a break... i don't think any player in the world would be a well rested davenport after such a match the night before......
nastya is a fantastic player and she will be seeing davenport soon.... maybe in the u.s. open final when myskina will have a day's rest... then it will be a different story...... ;) :drink:

Davenport served an ace that was out by 3 inches :oSO true. I have said the same yesterday in several threads. I know it's California, Holiwood and probably the organizers are producers too - the know how to produce all, to not be unpleasant surprises. :bigclap:
I asked some times but no one answers me how it happens the home-darling can't receive prime-time, instead of American-Russian batle, they schedule two evenings boring all Russian matches. Even more, yesterday they scheduled Vera to play 2 evening matches with a possibility she to play 2 final next noon:confused:
Yes, today Lindsay didn't need linesmen's gifts, the organizers had made a perfect job, but she still received them because it's their nature. And srange things happen sometimes - yesterday Nastya came back from 2-5 - more surely - better
But what could we expect from Americans in their country, don't we see what they do all around the world?:fiery:

Well, you're right about the attempts to rig the Open for Americans last year (which were successful on the men's side). But as far as the scheduling goes, Nastya did herself no favors by hanging around to watch the entire Likhovtseva/Zvonareva doubles match late last night. Needing a way to wind down is one thing, but sitting out in the cold well past midnight when you have a singles final the next day at noon is crazy! As soon as I saw that, I figured she was doomed unless Lindsay's knee got worse.

Oh stop with your stupidity.

I already told you why Myskina got the night match for the semifinals. It's because she played the night match the day before in the quarters. The same happened for Serena last week in LA with night matches in the quarters and semis.

And if you actually wonder why Sharapova/Myskina was put as the night match in the quarters, then you really aren't thinking with your head. The hype around Sharapova right now in the US is equal to that of Kournikova's four years ago. She's very popular in the states now that she is a Slam champ.

If you want to talk about a real example of biased scheduling to tamper with the results of a tournament, look at the way the USTA handled rain delays on the men's side last year. It's just a shame that David didn't take that match point in the semis - I'm sure a Juan Carlos Ferrero vs. David Nalbandian final would have put the members of the USTA into a bar to get drunk and lick their wounds.

Yes, there were few bad calls, but they didn't decide the outcome of the match.

Nastya was visibly tired, and, since the movement is one of the major components of her game, didn't have much chance. Especially with Lindsay being on top of her game.

In last few games Nastya simply gave up or was unable to play because of exhaustion (double-faults, unforced errors)

Hope there next match will be more competitive. We all know Nastya can play much better.

funny thing we have here.
someone's complaining about ONE call in a 6-1 6-1 match...
and people don't think OTHEr countries give their players preferential treatment for when they play?
at wimbledon, tim henman pretty much gets to call the time of his matches to the minute...
get over it!

that's an explaination for fools probably like you if you really believe that. Night matches are always the most excited (expected) for the spectators and don't tell me that Americans prefer to see 2 Russian , Yes, Serena is their favourite, but Nastya is hardly known there. And Vera playing singles and doubles back to back is absolutely normal too
How can some people deny so obvious things:retard:
