I just can't help it but feel really bad for Vera... She has this history of not being able to close out matches and GOD this won't help her :sobbing:

But what a fight from Myskina... this is just unbelievable! I'm buying this match!

Myskina down 5-2 in games in the final set, then saved a match point at 5-6 (in games) then was down 6-3 in the tiebreak, but won 17-15! She vitrually trailed throughout the tiebreak!

OMG, this girl is just cursed when it comes to the top 10, to blow, ironically, TEN match points, including being up 5-2 30-0, and 5-4 30-0, then 6-3 in the tie-break.

That's just crazy.

The locker room is going to be afraid , very afraid of Nastya. When they get a lead they will start thinking of Vera leading for 2 sets and a tiebreak and 10mp and those little doubts will creep in. Ouch.

Promising indeed for Vera too. she played well and kept on going - just ran into the imoveable object.. :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

That should make the crowd appreciative of the Russians. Why on earth do Eurosport keep on showing Lindsay's matches with no excitement when you could predict from how the Russians were both playing that would be the better match. Now we don't get to see a classic again:mad: .

Is there any sense the home-favourite to be not scheduled to play night matches with huge crowd?

You guys shouldn't be so hard on vera, she got her ish together and put together a great match. They just kept going back and forth. First, Myskina had all the momentum, then it just kinda went Vera's way. Then of course, at 5-2 Myskina got it together and made a push. Sucks to be the people that left like morons. Everyone was saying this was the best match ever. The judges really did a good job unlike during Lindsay's match earlier. Such a rollercoaster of a match. This easily should have been a final, such great tennis. I'm definitely pulling for Myskina tomorrow. I'm still in shock. lol

While I'm sad for Vera and wanted Her to win,I think there are a lot of positives for Her,after being wiped in the 1st. She fought back in the 2nd then had Her serve broken and looked like going down in the same score as Masha 6 2 75 (Masha's was arse about tit) but at least She went on and made a hell of a match out of it! well they both did. She is certainly playing well on the hardcourts, just dosen't like serving out matches You don't know whether to mentally cuddle Her or kick Her butt!

Great Nastya! Great nastya! Just rest as good as you can for tomorrow! rest baby!

Looks like Vera is the second best Russian and not Maria and not Elena! sad for Elena though. I'm sure vera would benifit greatly from this! Next time she'll be even more eager to finish off those match points and she'll do it no doubt. But here, although I didn't see the match I'm sure that it was Myskina who DEFENDED those match points. How many MPs did Vera save, by teh way.

The match was remarkable, the tie-breaker unbelievable. You could have cut the tension with a knife.

Myskina is simply marvelous. Leif Shiras, the Tennis channel commentator, said she reminded him of Hingis and she reminds me of Martina as well. She uses amazing anticipation to put herself where the ball is going to be. She works the angles like a chess master. She maneuvers her opponents around until either she has an opening, or they make a mistake. It is really fun to see that kind of tennis being played again.

Full marks to Vera, but Myskina is queen of all the Russias and hopefully by the end of the year, the Queen of Tennis as well.

They we're both amazing! Both hitting winners during the entire tie break. Vera did not choke!!! I repeat.. She did not choke!! Myskina just hit 2 more winners than Vera did, that's all. They both had multiple match points and they both saved match points. To see two women hit the ball that hard and that consistantly without barely any unforced errors was something to see. It was amazing!!!!:)

That match last night was just out of this world. I couldn't believe the efford by both players. Myskina is unvelieveble, she is relentless, a fighter till the end, coming back big time on the 3rd set and tie-break. I felt bad for Vera because she worked just as hard and left the court all heart broken. In a match like this you really have to credit both players equally, that was an unbelieveble display of mental strenght and fierce hitting. Stunning to watch!

Zvonareva will get over this. She's still a teen, I believe. Serena and Justine were both able to overcome their mental problems with closing out matches, and I expect that she will too, eventually.

Myskina saves 10 match points to d. Zvonareva 6-2 6-7(4) 7-6(15)
But wtatour.com wrote that she saved 9 mp not 10:

Beat No.15 Zvonareva 62 67(4) 76(15) in SF after trailing 5-2 in third set, saving 9 mp, eight in tie-break, and closing out longest singles third-set tie-break in WTA Tour history on fifth mp, also the longest tie-break this year
