I think Lindsay and Jen have better forehands. So would Serena if she would just stop pushing the ball.

Jen is my fave along with Elena. And I like Lindsay too.

In terms of technique, consistency, power and aggression, Elena's is much better in all those departments in comparison to Serena, Lindsay and Jen. Serena's technique is shaky, Jen isn't aggressive enough with her FH and Lindsays can break down pretty often too.

Elena's FH is the money shot. The winners, the returns and the groundies she can hit on that wing are amazing. Especially towards the end of the second set today.

i think it is probably the best on the tour at the moment.

i think jennifer's forehand may be equally strong, but Dementieva utilizes it more effectively, especially when she whips it while on the run

i love it but no itīs not the best on tour cap Serena Vee(when she puts the ball in and not out some people might say that she deosn have a good forehand but go look @ some matchs of 2000/2001/2002 and youīll see what iīm talking about especially 1 match agains Kim in Antwerp 2002 if iīm not wrong),Lidsay this have better IMO forehands then Dementieva. but Dementievaīs is a trademark and itīs 1 of the bests on tour.

and just because you don't agree that it's not the best doesn't mean that it isn't.
may not be THE best, but it's right up there with the VERY best.

I just thought it would be appropriate to bring this thread back. I would like to make an ammendment to my previous post.

Dementieva's forehand is by far stronger than Jennifers! (just an opinion guys!) It's freakin amazing! Like Venus, Elena on the run with that forehand is just asking for a crazy passing shot!!

It's a beauty and, on another note about her game, I love how she is coming to the net!

It's a wonderful stroke. She has a lovely backhand when it's working too :D

Hell no, its good, but its not that good. The time that I saw her hitting it today, she was hitting it soft. Lindsays is far better, Serena, and even Venus(when its on). I dont see the hype in Jennifer forehand, did she even hit 10 winners in todays match??

Best on tour by some way. Davenport and Kuznetsova are the only others which come close. Capriati? Tee hee.

The thing I like about her forehand is not just how hard and flat it is, but how consistant she is with it. Serena and Vee have great forehands, but they have to be on because if they aren't the forehand breaks down a lot. I also like Lindsay's because she is very consistant on that side too

Elena's just has that something of a rapier about it - you just don't see it.

Sveta v Elena FH rallies are going to be something to see. Perhaps they ought to let steffi give a prize to the one she likes best. They both must have watched an awful lot of her FH as kids ( I think they both have said so too)

All,

Elena definitely has one of - if not the best "Inside Out" forehand tis true. She goes after it like Steffi used too. It is a wonderful stroke & play.

I'll tell 'ya. I didn't appreciate Elena during the Indian Wells debacle - tis true. I really feel as if the players should measure their words before speaking to the press. Yet - I got over it last year during clay court season. I've mentioned before that I would pick her for my clay court team - because of her clay court game. Yet - I must have realized even then - that what I appreciated most about her - is her heart and drive. That child will not quit - will she? She just keeps going and going.

I love the fact that she hangs in there - competes well - and gets a lot of balls back. To be honest Cap plays hard too and gets balls back too - but Elena has the heart of a lioness in a special way. Cappy counts on defensive play too much. And if the Williams sisters ain't taught us nothing else - they taught us that in the long run - being the more offensive player is the ticket.

Elena's groundstrokes are usually sure and solid - so why wouldn't one pick her for one's All Court Team? How does she play on carpet?

Even w/that sucky serve - and especially how it was today - she still has lots of game. LOL! Those serves were frustrating Jen - and she knew it. Bless Elena's heart for hanging in there when many were laughing at her serve - to include the commentators.

"GOOD ON YOU - ELENA" "SORRY - BUT I DON'T CARE WHICH ONE OF YOUS WINS THE TITLE" "YOU BOTH DESERVED TO MAKE IT FOR SURE - SO GIVE US ALL YOUS GOT"

Yeah, her forehand is pretty...but it isnīt a MONEY shot and she rarely goes for a winner anyways.

She sure does have one hell of a forehand. She used it effectively today, unfortunately it had to be against my fave(Jen's is still better though). But good luck to Elena in the final!!!

It WAS a money shot.

That was before Jenn decided somewhere along the line to start playing like ASV.

Not sure the exact match it happened, but it was sometime during 2002.

Watch any of Jenn's last 3 matches at Aus Open 2001 and you'll see what a real money shot it can be.

Agreed though, Dementieva' forehand is awesome. She's unbelievable off the ground.
