Venus/Serena. They are by far the best team and will win w/o dropping a set. Serena will also take home olympic gold, Myskina silver, and Capriati bronze.

if the courts r pretty fast, i dont see how a net-rushing team like molik/stubbs can be beaten

Myskina / Dementieva

If they are playing Doubles, their chances of going far are good, Probably not the "best" team out there, but with the likes of Dementieva who plays Doubles Regulary, will had a little fluency.

Zheng / Li

They have a good Chinese pairing of Li/Sun who plays extremely well and goes far in the tournaments, Could be a darkhorse IMO

Navratilova Raymond

:) Strong Team, Played on Hardcourts, defintly a threat.

Kuznetsova / Likhovtseva

Perhaps strongest team out there, have played numerously this year, Great Results, and considering most other teams that triumph are of International Combinations, They should be in the running for gold.

Martinez / Ruano Pascual

Smart move by playing together, will take a little getting used to this combination between them, but Both Great Doubles Players, Noticebly Ruano Pascual. Husarova did Martinez Proud ;)

Other (Please specify)

Schnyder/Casanova

Both had Excellent results this year, Casanova and Bartoli produced a great young combination, and Schnyder and Schett can turn the heat on when needed, like in France earlier in the year, though I would rather have the Team of Gagliardi/Casanova, Schnyder and Casanova with their respective Doubles Rankings pose a threat, when both have great serves on the day, they can be a large threat, both great pairs of hands and a great court sence.

Lets just hope Schnyder has her Brain into 6th Gear by the time the Olympics come around.

To be Fair to all, on a good day, most of these teams have a great chance to win Gold.....The battle will be one of nerves and commitments...

Normally, I would say Williams/Williams, but based on current form, I go with Kutznesova/Likhotseva. It would be nice to see Navratilova winning, but I doubt very much it will happen. I'm going with Conchita/VRP for the bronce.

My feeling is that Sveta/Lena L will take it. Navratilova/Raymond stand a good chance for a medal, though, as do Myskina/Dementieva. Molik/Stubbs have an outside chance as do Conchita/Vivi who probably would have won if it had been clay.

Have I missed something here - are the Olympics being played on hardcourts?! I expected it to be on clay, being an outdoor Europe event and think that would have been a much better choice! After all, the last two Olympics have both been on hard courts and we haven't had clay since barcelona '92! I'm gutted about this!
I picked Martinez/Ruano-Pascual to win thinking it was on clay, but now I am not so sure! Theyplayed together in LA and reacherd the final so that is a good sign after one outing together!
BTW, are the same country allowed to have two pairs as a maximum? Williams/Williams, Raymond/Navratilova, for example, are all American, didn't the limit used to be one pair from each country in the doubles?
I think Suarez is playing with Dulko!

if they would have played on gravel instead of hard court, not many of the top players would have played the Olympics just before the US-open on hardcourt, I think!

You are right. In fact I like the Australian team very much.
Ranee is a great doubles player without a question, and Alicia's serve will only help her, not to mention I have liked Australian style of playing quite a lot. Maybe they have a chance to take out the sisters....So that's my darkhorse:).

I think people forgot about last year Wimbledon when the Williams sisters were on top of the game, they struggle a lot in doubles against team which play a lot together and subsequent lost very early. It will be a very hard battle for them to win without any practice. I am going for Kutnetsova /Likovseva

but if the nerve go into them, I think Martina/Lisa can snap it.

Of course I would love to see the chinese pair win, but they are not ready yet, and will be a much more difficult opponent in 2008 when they play at home :D
