Do you think that she has got a chance or she will be easily beaten.

I hope not, I want Amelie to win it and become #1 in the world:).

She has as good a chance as any of the other players have. She seems to be playing well now, but the next few tournaments will really show what level she is at.

She's definitely among the top 8 contenders.

It depends. If Kim plays NH and then the Open and then Justine plays the Olympics and the Open, Maria's chances would decrease. Even without them, Maria still has to get pass mauremos, davenport (who's playing better now and with much more confidence than she did in Wimbledon), the sisters, myskina, zvonareva (who's playing quite well right now and probably better than most of the russians), and a resurgent capriati.

If she is able to keep on playing as she has for the past eight weeks, she has a very good chance - dependent on the draw.

The main threats to her are Henin, Davenport, Myskina and Serena, dependant on how they are playing. Lesser threats: Kim, Mauresmo, Venus.

I agree. Right now I would put my money on Lindsay, then Serena, then Venus, then Sharapova.

JHH and Kim won't be factors. Kim isn't even going to play, from what I have heard. JHH, with her amazing heart and fighter instincts, might make some inroads, and who knows, but Kim probably won't ever win a slam if she hasn't been able to win her first 4 finals. No one has lost so many finals and then won one.

Right now, Maria has to be one of the top five contenders, along with Lindsay, Myskina, Serena and perhaps Dementieva.

Capriati, Kim and Justine are big question makes because we have no idea what shape they are in or even if any of them will play. If they do, Maria's chances may go down, but just a little, because none of the three of them is likely to be match tough.

Lindsay, though, is now the favorite.

She is a contender, and with the trend in womens tennis its not safe to say she wont or she will win it.

i would definitely say if she won in Acura, i will give her a 90% chance to win USO.

definitely good chance. let's see how this week goes. i couldn't comfortably name a champ and feel good about it at all. i mean lindsay is playing well and doing everything right when it's important, but can she keep it up? maria has a great shot now that she's rested and playing well already. u can't count venus or serena out, and we haven't seen jenn play. so maria has a good chance, definitely.

.
Myskina:lol: . Venus is a far bigger contender than Myskina for the US Open.

All I have to say is: greatest ever......and greatest ever takes care of business. so I definetely see Maria winning the u.s.open. In fact she´s gonna win it even more convincing than venus or Serena did recently. She will drop 20 games max and never more than 3 per match.

no, Bandabou, didn't I tell you that Maria will be the first person ever to win a slam w/o dropping a game? ;)

If someone can do it, it is Maria....either you´re the greatest or you ain´t.
